Technical Sales Manager for Power System Protection and Automation
Siemens – Raleigh – North Carolina
Position Overview
The technical Sales Manager at Siemens will be responsible for providing technical sales support for Siemens’ utility and industry customers for Power System Protection, Automation and Hardware Devices. The professional will also be the key technical point of contact for understanding that customer’s specific needs and for developing the business with target accounts with the support of the back office engineering and proposal management staff.
The successful candidate is a technical expert, who will be responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction and fostering growth of integrated Protection and Control (P&C) systems at his / her specific assigned accounts and within the local geographical region.
The main responsibilities associated with this position include:
  • Early involvement with target customers to influence their specifications and drive the acceptance of the Siemens protection and control systems.
  • Make technical presentations and product demonstrations to Customers and be able to understand the specific application and show the advantages of our solution against the competition.
  • Develop and configure special applications to fill specific Customer needs with support from the back office team.
  • Review specifications and select the product that best fits the Customer’s requirements, both from a technical as well as a cost perspective.
  • Be able to identify and promote further applications of our products with Customers.
  • Lead approval process at Utilities in order to have our products tested and approved.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to customers and develop associated recommendations for ongoing business growth.
  • Provide front-end technical sales support to local Siemens account managers in the utility and industrial markets.
  • Establish and maintain close ties with customers to become a preferred trusted advisor to the Customer.

  • Evaluate customer needs and develop cost-effective technical applications to achieve customer adoption of Siemens P&C products, solutions and systems.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering education required. Major in power system engineering or relay protection preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with power system protection and/or substation automation. Configuration and testing experience desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills in the English Language.
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills. Able to establish trusted relationship with counterparts at Customers.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office packages.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience with SIPROTEC or SICAM family. Configuration and testing experience desirable. Familiarity with both product lines will be considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with communication network topology desirable.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols desirable, especially DNP 3.0 and IEC 61850.
