Position Overview

 

 

An Electrical Engineer - Design Architect will be responsible for integrating the various functions required for schematic design (Technical requirements, system engineering, mechanical design, harness design, control functionality, software functionality…) and combining them into electrical concepts that will then be interpreted by electrical designers, harness designers and mechanical/electrical integrators.

 

  • Lead the electrical design of a project(s) from requirements to manufacturing.
  • Project lead responsibilities of electrical designers and harness designers while providing electrical guidance for system engineers and mechanical designers. 
  • Reporting to the head of electrical engineering with a team of 10 plus members consisting of electrical designers, harness designers, electrical architects and production

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare schematics using Elcad. (Elcad experience is preferred but not mandatory, E3 or alternate schematics tool experience will be accepted). Electrical circuit design experience and willingness to use Elcad is essential.
  • Prepare and review electrical design to US and European standards (IEEE, APTA, NFPA, DIN etc..)
  • Prepare, review and submit technical specifications and proposals.
  • Prepare, review and submit light rails, locomotives and coaches electrical concept of low voltage and high voltage.
  • Provide support to customers, vendors, chain management and engineering management.
  • Create, update and manage redlines of Engineering/Manufacturing BOM.
  • Create and release engineering documents (redlines and BOM) via PDMLink, SAP and JDEdwards
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, interfacing with factory workers, purchasing, communication with suppliers and customers, and interdepartmental interaction

 

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

 

  • Electrical Engineering bachelor degree
  • 3 years minimum in electrical designs using an industry known schematics tool
  • Knowledge of concepts tools such as Microsoft Visio
  • The ability to perform components selection using components catalogs such as circuit breakers, cables, terminals, off-the-shelves components with their associated characteristics.
  • The ability to interpret customer specification and design electrical schematics in consistency with US (or defined) standards is a must
  • Interfacing and interpreting system engineering documents is a key part of the design process

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

 

  • Associate or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineer
  • Aerospace, automotive experience is good, rail is a plus
  • Knowledge of low and high voltage designs
  • Knowledge of Elcad is a plus, but not mandatory, E3 or other schematics tool used will be accepted
  • Ability to learn fast
