Job Description:

Responsible for practices and operations of design transfer, product optimization after commercial launch and sustaining engineering of all products on the common platform.  Ensures compliance to all quality procedures and policies applicable to design controls of reusable subsystems, interfaces, parts and assemblies.  Responsible for coordinating design transfer timelines and deliverables with core teams, engineering project managers, new product introduction project managers and configuration engineers. Responsible for quality of design changes and attainment of product metrics throughout its lifecycle. Responsible for staffing product optimization projects and coordinating planning and execution of design changes with the supply chain organization for a holistic roadmap of design releases. Responsible for organizational capabilities of the PLE, ongoing skills development and alignment of transformational priorities to the overall global engineering transformation roadmap. Responsible for measurable improvement of PLE excellence by using advanced tools and methods for planning and execution of engineering changes and product optimization projects.
Direct budget responsibility for all PLE resources.  Total Headcount in Organization is approximately 12.  Direct responsibility for timeliness and completeness of required project plans and performance metrics updates.
Develops and enhances best practices for design transfer, as well as for planning and execution of product optimization efforts subsequent to the market launch.
Participates in GEO EPS Management Team, PLM boards, Product Health Teams and other business oriented teams as required.  Ensures that inter-functional teamwork is strong at all levels of the organization.  Contributes to establishment of GEO vision, strategy and tactics.
Establishes and administers procedures pertaining to design transfer and design change.
Recommends cost center budget requirements and takes action to guarantee effective utilization of resources within approved budgets.
Manages (directly and through subordinates) platform lifecycle engineering resources across all GEO development sites.  Responsible for long range resource planning, core competency identification and development of organizational structure.
Establishes adequate oversight of all design history files, design change history, evaluates and maintains documentation readiness for internal and external quality audits.
Keeps abreast of current regulations and industry standards, through participation and research of pertinent literature. Develops, directs and maintains best practices maturity according to the GEO scorecard and targets.
Oversees preparation of performance reports and ensures that all appropriate functional and core team representatives receive copies of these reports
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Engineering
Demonstrated track record of at least ten (10) years leading progressive engineering functions or engineering projects.  Fully proficient in aspects of Agile, SCRUM and platform based development
Strong breadth of knowledge in the fields of engineering design, integration and testing
Release planning, Scrum development and visual collaboration methodologies
Management experience in engineering, leading design projects within regulated design control environment.   Business experience in resource allocation, budgeting, project management and leadership

Lead and manage complex groups and large size engineering departments across multiple locations. Ability to shift resources and priorities to meet critical deadlines. Quick and confident alignment of critical resources to shifting priorities across multiple projects.
