Job Description:

Senior Manager, Transducer Engineering

The Transducer Engineering Manager will lead the transducer process, mechanical and materials development group within PLM to invent, develop, and optimize innovative ultrasound transducer design, engineering, processes and new materials for next generation medical ultrasound transducers and catheters, by driving the leadership in performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.


RESPONSIBILITIES
•Work with other transducer development teams, project managers, and cross functional teams for process development and integration activities towards the development of multiple new ultrasound transducer and catheter products.
•Provide global engineering leadership to establish new, standard probe mechanical, material and process requirements and methods to improve yield, performance, and reliability.
•Lead the team to establish core technology leadership by developing acoustic materials and specifications, identifying and implementing processing equipment and technologies.
•Collaborate with transducer manufacturing team on mechanical, material and process optimization, deployment, and automation.
•Partner with academic institutions, external partners, and suppliers to deliver improved / advanced transducer processing and materials.
•Deploy DFSS and Design for Reliability methodologies to the mechanical, material and process development of new products.
•Ensure engineering designs meet business objectives, design for performance, cost, reliability and manufacturability.
•Ensure compliance with product development process, regulatory requirements, and quality management system during product development, verification, validation, and manufacturing transfer.
•Drive budget control, resource management, technical excellence and teamwork for acoustic and testing group
•Drive a high performance culture, providing leadership, coaching and engineering expertise to a team of global engineers. Address staffing, team/talent development, skill set improvement and performance management needs.
•Maintain a strong crosslink between acoustic and testing engineering in multiple sites, sharing knowledge and solving problems throughout a global organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

•BS or MS in Physics, EE, ME, Material Sciences, or Chemistry; Ph.D. preferred
•8+ years of professional experience in a medium to high manufacturing environment with direct responsibility for design and development of process, materials, and equipment.
•Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience with proven people management / development skills, including the ability to create a positive, can-do teamwork atmosphere in a fast-paced environment.
•Successful track record in project management and working with cross-functional teams.
•Experience in ultrasound product, semiconductor process, and/or medical device design engineering preferred
•Knowledge of transducer process, miniaturized electrical interconnects, packaging, adhesive, bonding, polymer, surface science, materials engineering, precision assembly techniques, Design of experiments (DOE) and/or statistical process control (SPC) preferred.
•FDA, IEC, ISO9000 and medical device knowledge preferred.
•Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, tenacity and patience to perform in a fast paced environment
•Self-motivated/self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and operate in a remote environment.
•Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing preferred
•Willing to travel globally 15%
