Position Overview


Join our dedicated team, in a technology driven journey to excellence in the centrifugal compressor industry.  

  • Create 3D and cross sectional layouts of centrifugal compressors
  • The layout drafter is a direct link between design engineering and detailed product drafting
  • Responsible for accurately laying out a cross section of a compressor.
  • The layout drafter will be involved in design and development and is the starting point from which detailed piece parts are eventually put into production 
  • The experienced layout drafter will evolve into a well-rounded team member, being a key player and contact for a wide spectrum of internal and external customers and suppliers 
  • The layout drafter supports product design and development, part detailing and checking, fabrication and manufacturing and is an integral part of overall client satisfaction
  • Produce accurate 3D layouts of compressors in the areas pertinent to the project scope and within specified time frames 
  • Create layouts of compressors utilizing information provided by design engineers while meeting customer requirements
  • Creates solid model assemblies in Unigraphics to ensure form, fit and function logic is met, and insuring assembly to mating parts are correct
  • When required, the layout drafter will need to incorporate new designs and standards into existing compressor designs and stay within footprint limitations
  • Assist in design reviews and implement design changes
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills and innovative thinking
  • Review and incorporate the latest company standards

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: 

  • 2 year Associates Degree or Technical Diploma in Drafting
  • Technical proficiency in Unigraphics, UGNX, Microsoft applications
  • 3-5 years of experience in centrifugal compressor modeling and drafting using CAD
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into basic understanding and to effectively communicate with a diversity of people at individual and team levels
  • 1-2 years of experience in a schedule based manufacturing facility
  • General knowledge in manufacturing.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: 

  • 5 or more years of experience in centrifugal compressor modeling and drafting using CAD
  • Prior experience in compressor layout drafting
  • Insight, interest and drafting experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Knowledge of a production planning and schedule based environment
  • 2 or more years of experience in a production and manufacturing environment
