ORGANIZATION:

  • This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Engineering for the Strategic Reagents Manufacturing Projects Group

  • The Engineering group is responsible for all custom process equipment.  The scope of work for each piece of equipment includes Requirements Definition, Procurement, Fabrication, Validation, and Change Management.

  • We are currently supporting a major plant expansion at Walpole MA, and construction of a new Manufacturing plant in China. 

  • This position is be based out of Walpole, MA

     

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lead the Packaging and Labeling scope for the China project. 

    • Translate Product based packaging needs into requirements.  Interface with packaging suppliers to provide cost effective, reliable packaging solutions that align with packaging equipment and processes.  Provide packaging specifications and conduct verification activities demonstrating packaging will meet intended use.

    • Review & approve construction drawings for labels and packaging materials

    • Support the Labeling Element team in the development of all component and kit labels.  Influence the Design for Manufacturability, to ensure capability to print and inspect at speeds up to 3,000 per hour.

    • Support the Validation of assay-specific label templates and transfer to the China plant.

    • Support the Validation of kit packaging, to include ISTA shock & vibration testing

    • Support development and printing of labels for materials to be supplied from Walpole to the China plant

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • As a Senior Engineer, this position performs moderate tasks and functions in the specific Engineering field.  Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal with most situations.

  • Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of Engineering field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments.  Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular areas of specialization.  Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.

  • Provides general guidance or train lower level support staff

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Experience working in regulated industry such as ISO 9000, cGMP.  Preferably in the Pharmaceutical or Life Science Industry.

    • Experience with high-speed label printing and vision system technologies.  Preferably for bilingual printing.

    • Experience with the design of packaging & labeling.  Preferably with strong skills in Design for Manufacturability and in standardizing packaging configurations across multiple product lines.

    • Experience with CAD, preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks

    • Experience in generating and executing validation protocols

       

EDUCATION:

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering

     

EXPERIENCE:

  • Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge

 

TRAVEL:

  • 10-20% international travel is anticipated to support training and knowledge transfer from Walpole to the China plant
