Job Description: Senior Staff Engineer (Sub-System Team Leader)

Position Overview 

Looking for a Senior Staff Engineer experienced in the design and development of complex Sub-Systems & implementation in Laboratory Diagnostic instrumentation. The candidate is expected to provide technical and team leadership within the Sub-System Development group for a specific technology area covering precision mechanisms and fluidics.
This position reports directly to the Senior Director (Head of Sub-System Development) in the Siemens Healthineers Laboratory Diagnostics Global Engineering Organization.

Responsibilities 

The Sub-System Leader is expected to lead the design, development, & integration of electro-mechanical-fluidic sub-systems for clinical diagnostic analyzers.  They will be motivating technical team lead with members coming from all engineering disciplines required to complete the work. The leader will be responsible for all performance aspects of a defined instrument sub-system. They are required to work closely with other Sub-System Leaders, Lead System Integration Engineer (LSI) and Chief Engineer. They drive commonality & common approach to new sub-system designs across different instruments & modules through the implementation of the Set Based Design & Design to Shelf methodology. They must possess a strong understanding of the Product Development Process in the FDA Regulated Environment - Concept to Commercialization. Be able to communicate detailed concepts to team members. Be able to focus team on priorities and drive designs to keep on schedule with highest quality as paradigm.

Specific areas of need include but are not limited to;
 
Specimen sampling and mixing devices, precision fluidics, mechatronics, micro fluid delivery and integrity monitoring.
Role is considered to be an “Individual Contributor” without supervisory responsibility but will require technical team leadership.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Software Skills:
 
Solid Modeling Unigraphics NX 3D CAD or similar, Teamcenter PLM, Team Foundation Server, Microsoft Office

Education:
 
Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering and 10+ years of industry experience. (ME, EE, Software, Systems, Biomedical)

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Familiarity with Mechatronics Analysis & Design, Six Sigma methodologies like DFSS, Set Based Design & Platform Development concepts like Design to Shelf will be beneficial.
Understanding or expertise in analysis & modeling tools like ANSYS Finite Element, CFD, and others will be helpful. Experience with in-vitro chemistry analyzer design and development would be highly beneficial.
