Position Overview
GDN, Global Services organization in Siemens PLM, is looking to hire an experienced solution architect with experience in design, development and technical leadership. Proficiency in mapping business requirements to object model, experience creating overall solution design with Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) product portfolio is required.
Responsibilities include but not limited to analysis and design of object model, good understanding of entity and relationships, create interoperability between multiple systems , defining project backlog and working with the implementation team to ensure that development meets the business requirements.
The role requires a deep understanding of Manufacturing Operations Software and specifically the Siemens MOM portfolio and passion for helping customer achieve realized value, a vision for improving Siemen’s position in the Manufacturing Operations marketplace, a desire to increase our market share in industries that we serve, and a drive for continuously improving the processes that we use to achieve successful implementations and the willingness to travel within the US and globally.
Solution Architects in Siemens GDN Services group, are primarily responsible for, but not necessarily limited to, the following duties:
  • Understand functional specifications, technical requirements or business justifications for an entire project or a program.
  • Lead the development of solution design, developing Software customizations, extensions using supported APIS to meet client’s requirements, using established best practices to deliver a high quality, reliable and performant software solutions.
  • Contribute to estimate time frames, work package breakdown, capability definitions and quantity of resources estimates required to successfully implement the project
  • Executing Data Modeling activities where required, following Siemens standard methodologies, and adhering to the expectations established in Project Design Documentation
  • Understand the context of the customer project, its contract type, key deliverables and the engagement model.
  • Understand the purpose of the project and interdependencies of each work stream, its work breakdown and its relationship to the overall internal or external customer’s solution.
  • Assist in the creation of system designs and functional specifications.
  • Troubleshooting and helping resolve issues across the entire scope of the Solution:  Object Model, Design, Web Portal, and all other Interfaces.  Demonstrate capability with the platforms that govern these Solution aspects.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to project management team collaborating on reporting project status, issues, risks and benefits.
  • Providing technical inputs for executing Data Migration and Data Conversion activities where required, gaining expertise with Siemens tools that support these activities.
  • Effectively facilitate workshops and delivery of customer requirements internally within Siemens PLM or externally to a customer.
  • Mentor implementation consultants, actively participate in implementation reviews and be the gatekeeper of qualitative project deliveries.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • 5+ years of expertise in Manufacturing Operations Management Implementations
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing customer requirements and developing innovative solutions
  • 5+ years of experience developing a software solution using a programming language
    • C++, C#, CSS, JavaScript , HTML, JSP, VB.NET
  • 5+ years of experience  with one more of the following database programs
    • SQL Server or SQL Express
    • Oracle
    • MySQL
    • Access
  • Working knowledge of the following related technologies:
    • Microsoft Software
    • Microsoft Windows 2008, 2012 and Windows 8
    • Microsoft Office
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical architecture and design
  • Self- Motivated to learn, develop, deliver and excel.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, communicate obstacles in a timely manner and manage changing priorities.
  • A results oriented individual , capable of learning and contributing to a dynamic environment
  • Strong organization, communication , analytical and problem solving skills
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.
Actively participate in knowledge-sharing and Communities of Practice, leveraging technical and industry best practices and templates to deliver project tasks, providing experiences to support continual improvement.
Act as part of a Professional Services team, work productively with Consultants, Architects, Project Managers, and other internal & external interfaces to ensure that the customer succeeds in their objectives.  As an Architect resource, responsible for the translation of business requirements into specific process aligned designs for the Siemens PLM Software solution based on multi product/multi industry domain knowledge and best practices in the subject area, applied to standard projects, in order for the Siemens PLM Software solution to deliver market leading solutions and  provide value to the customer.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Camstar, Simatic IT, MES, software experiences are a plus.
  • Experience in custom software development, User Interface development, and System Interface programming using the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE
  • Experience or familiarity with AJAX controls,  Windows Communication FoundationSiemens Camstar Designer, Siemens Camstar Portal Studio, XSLT, Object Oriented Design Experience, AngularJS, HTML5, Siemens Simatic IT product Suite, Web Services (Restful, WCF) JSON
  • Experience in custom software development with Enterprise Java, HTML5, JSP Applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related technical or engineering field. 
10%-15% travel may be expected.
