Job Description:

 

 
Position Overview:
 
Siemens is seeking a Senior Sales Application Engineer to oversee security-system projects for new construction clients.  This role is responsible for oversight of complex integrated systems including access control, video management systems, intercom, paging, networks, fiber communication systems, etc. throughout Southern California and will report to our Operations Manager in Cypress.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Accurately estimates labor and material job costs and provides technical support and advice to Sales and Operations teams.
  • Acts as external liaison working with clients, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Develops and maintains engineering design and pricing resources for field sales teams.
  • Collaborates in partnership with sales, operations and project managers, and completes site walk-throughs to determine specific client needs and ensure project requirements are met (including safety standards).
  • Designs complex integrated security systems including access control, closed circuit television, intercom, paging, networks, fiber communication systems, etc.
  • Assists sales by providing project labor and equipment costs, ensuring part number accuracy, and assembling permit packages.
  • Values projects by product and installation and creates scope documents (prime to subcontractors and vice versa) using quote software.
  • Provides operational and troubleshooting advice as needed.  Troubleshooting includes server hardware, replacing failed components, rack/unrack, configure/setup RAID controller(s), ILO connections, BIOS, network cards, and hard drives
  • Provides subcontractor assistance by evaluating customer site system requirements and accurate job estimates.
  • Act as external liaison for owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and trades people as needed.
  • Facilitates project closure turnover meetings between assigned sales and operations employees.
  • Works with vendors to design and price Access Control, Video Management and intercom systems.
  • Stays abreast of and educates others on new product information.
  • Develops and maintains resources for sales and operations team, including technical library, cut sheets, manuals, and vendor product information.
  • Assists in establishing pricing. Including verification of subcontractor/vendor costs.
  • Maintains and increases technical knowledge and competence in company products, applications and technologies.
  • Provides mentoring and development to lower level Sales Application Engineers and acts as lead person.
 
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
 
  • Required education:   Associate’s degree in Electronics or Engineering Technology.
  • Required experience: Six years of technical experience in security applications, installation, project management, and administration.
  • Required travel: 5%
  • Other requirements:
    • Thorough knowledge of and ability to train others on product applications.
    • Strong organization, project management, and communication skills and ability to make professional presentations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
    • Expert knowledge and broad engineering understanding of security products and services.
    • Ability to work in a variety of circumstances including climbing ladders, scaffolds and high-lift equipment as well as working in ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
    • Must be able to differentiate types/colors of wire.
    • Must be able to use hand-tools.
    • Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
    • Ability to use laptop, smartphone, and tablet.
    • Must possess a valid Driver's license in good standing.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age in order to participate in the required Siemens vehicle plan.
    • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future sponsorship.
 
 
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
 
  • Preferred education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Other preferences:
    • Working knowledge of operating systems:  Win08, Win2012, Win7, Win10.  Workgroup and DOMAIN configuration.
    • Understanding server features:  DHCP, DNS, Domain Controller, application server, network shares, logon scripts, network card configuration for multiple networks
    • Working knowledge of GE Security/Casi, Sensormatic/SoftwareHouse, Milestone, ONssi, Genetec, Cisco Routers, Hyperwall products preferred.
    • Expertise in switches
    • MCSE
    • Cisco Certification
