Position Overview

 

The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced R&D team conducting laboratory testing of new Siemens Healthineers Point of Care assays using a variety of innovative chemistry methods and instrumentation.

 

The position will entail close collaboration with R&D scientists around design of experiments and analysis of the results. Together the team of scientists and laboratory technicians is dedicated to delivering quality and innovative products to our customers for use in near-patient testing settings. We strive to provide each individual with opportunities to develop technical skills, gain and share knowledge, achieve breakthrough innovation, understand and deliver what our customers want, and build a rewarding and fulfilling career. The position will report to an R&D Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with R&D sensor and reagent scientists in using a wide variety of laboratory methods and equipment to generate and analyze data to support the design, development, and transfer to manufacturing of new sensors.
  • Lab-based work including making aqueous solutions and blood preparations, assembling consumable parts, and executing testing and troubleshooting protocols on clinical chemistry analyzers and breadboard prototypes.
  • Data analysis including presentation of results at department meetings.
  • Maintaining a laboratory notebook and writing technical reports describing the results of laboratory testing performed.
  • Day-to-day upkeep of labs, maintaining R&D equipment and databases, ordering lab supplies.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and daily workflow.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • An Associate’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
  • General wet chemistry skills.
  • Good quantitative skills and working knowledge of basic statistical methods.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and to participate on multiple project teams.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. Qualified Applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Previous industry experience (1+ years) working in the medical diagnostics field is preferred.
  • Knowledge and previous use of clinical chemistry systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of basic electrochemical principles is desirable.
