Job Description:

Position Overview

The Field Service Technician (Customer Service Technician) is a field-based, customer-facing role that installs, services, maintains, and modifies Siemens Process Instrumentation at our customer sites, primarily in industrial, commercial, and municipal arenas. Our Field Service Technicians represent the "Face of Siemens" to the customer.

 

The Field Service Technician will report to the Service Operations Manager.

 

Responsibilities

The Field Service Instrumentation Technician’s responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on all Siemens Process Instrumentation (primarily flow, level, temp, and mass products) at customer sites with minimal supervision. Responsible for delivering both timely and effective repairs as well as familiarization training of operators to ensure optimal equipment performance, resulting in superior customer satisfaction.

 

The Field Service Tech will manage cost performance with their assigned jobs, meeting or exceeding job budget for expenses and time management.  Manage company assets to include a company car, cell phone, computer, tools, etc. Establish and maintain proper business relationships with customers and peers, as well as performing necessary administrative duties (Field Service Reports, Time Entry, and Expense Reports) accurately and in a timely manner.

 

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Minimum technical Associates Degree.  Must be proficient in the use of hand tools and test equipment,(digital mutlimeters & oscilloscope) with the ability to work both individually and in an established team setting. 2+ years experience as a field service technician servicing the commercial, industrial, or municipal segments preferred. Must be a self-starter with strong customer service skills, as well as excellent communication skills.

 

Need to have the ability to operate remotely from the main office with minimum supervision. Must demonstrate excellent judgment in customer relations and in managing company resources; strong competency in instrument systems technology to include mechanics, electrical, chemistry, and software technology; experience with electronics, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Must be able to interface with customers in a positive professional manner, as well as the ability to think and act in a logical and methodical way. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and be able to utilize computer-based tools for reports, e-mail and for general communication. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record is required. Must be willing to work varying shifts as Customer needs dictate and have the ability to travel with minimal notice.

 

Need to have the willingness to participate in an on-call rotation. Background or coursework in physics, electronics, computers, or industrial sciences is very helpful.

 

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Candidates with an Associates degree in related Technology or 3-5 years of Field Service experience is preferred.
