Job Description:

Siemens Intelligent Traffic Systems' business is growing and we're looking to hire a Senior Project Manager to champion ITS Solution projects starting with opportunity generation via the bid and proposal process to successful project implementation.
In this role, you will be focusing on Advanced Traffic Management Systems and Smart Cities Solutions - including Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Traffic Management (central and local), Adaptive Traffic Control systems, Smart Lighting.  Here, you'll be generating opportunities by analyzing and managing customer requirements, developing system design documents, technical narrative, developing complete RFP responses, defining winning strategies, and outlining the benefits of Siemens ITS portfolio specific to the customer requirements.
Furthermore, you will be asked to lead project teams during project implementation and guarantee meeting business goals and customer satisfaction by executing complex ITS projects on time and in budget. This role requires thought leadership in the respective solution space, applying professional engineering practice in ITS industry, leadership and communication skills as well as a strong background in customer relationship management, proposal management and project management. This position will report to the VP of Bids and Program Management and will be based out of New York City.
More detailed responsibilities for this exciting role include:
  • Understanding and managing regulating authorities, code requirements, and other industry-specific factors
  • Leading all efforts to generate project specific technical system design, system architecture, scope definition, and concept of operations to meet and exceed customer requirements together with R&D, Product Management, and other Engineering teams
  • Designing and leading business models and partner management, storyboarding, integrating various stakeholders, customer benefit analysis and tailoring of responses
  • You'll be taking the lead on quotations - including costing and pricing for products and service opportunities to determine proposal feasibility
  • Leading all activities to write proposals, describing technical solution, formulating executive summary, generating customer specific narrative as part of a high quality and professional RFP response
  • Leading bid teams and project teams, you will be applying the entire scope of Siemens' products/solutions/services to exceed our customer's goals including validating and endorsing the aspects of the offered solutions 
  • You will also manage interfaces with executive management and other internal stakeholders as well as with customers, partners, suppliers, subcontractors and other external stakeholders
  • Perform quality checks for all Subject Matter Expert inputs
Bid Coordination:
  • You'll work directly with different departments (Sales, Project Management, R&D, Product Management, Procurement, Legal and Field Operations) to develop and qualify bids/proposals for our ITS business, conduct reviews of Terms and Conditions (Legal) and manage procurement efforts
  • Review RFP's for feasibility
  • Understand what the customer needs in order to match them with the Siemens value proposition
  • Present management with suggestions for improving volume, market share and price levels
  • Manage the individual bid teams and ensure bid and project schedules, milestones, and work breakdown structures are understood
  • Complete preparation of offers, bids, proposals, contracts and other sales-related documents required by customers for products, solutions and services
Project Implementation:
  • Full P&L (profit and loss) responsibility to implement ITS projects and programs on time, in budget
  • You'll work directly with different internal departments (Sales, Project Management, R&D, Product Management, Procurement, Legal and Field Operations) and external partners to successfully deliver projects based on customer requirements and in line with Siemens business goals in time, budget and quality
  • Lead project teams and direct Subject Matter Experts, support functions, and third party partners to execute customer projects and achieve project targets’
  • Interface and communicate with customer on all project related topics, issues, and opportunities
  • Apply both PMP and professional engineering practice to optimize project results and generate long term customer engagement
Customer Interaction:
  • You'll provide eloquent and professional communication with vendors, subcontractors, contractors and customers
  • You will lead customer facing activities (customer interviews, Q/A sessions, project milestone meetings, design approvals, final acceptance procedures) from bid generation to final project acceptance
  • Develop a complete understanding of the requirements of the customer and how to best address them and match them with the Siemens value proposition and unique selling points
  • Driving all external and internal offer approval and release requests and processes in expedited manner and with highest quality 
Qualifications for this position will include:
  • Licensed PE in NY
  • MBA or Master of Science in Transportation Engineering
  • PMP certification, PMI
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Minimum of 15 years successful experience in the ITS industry and successful demonstration of above responsibilities
