Job Description:

This Contract Management position within the Siemens Legal Department that provides support to Siemens Mobility, Inc. on all legal matters related to transportation infrastructure projects arising in North American operations.

The main areas of focus include:

- Legal evaluation of potential claim opportunities
- Review and evaluation of public procurement contracts, requests for proposals and contracts with mostly public customers as well as legal advice on applicable laws and risk mitigation strategies –- Knowledge of legal issues in Rail Transportation Industry, Public Infrastructure, and Construction law
- Coordination of legal advice with external counsel as well as in-house Siemens legal personnel worldwide

-Drafting and negotiating contracts, to include procurement and supplier contracts, construction contracts, and licensing agreements
- Ability to work closely with management and contribute to the success of the business by providing practical legal and business advice
- Strong legal writing skills required

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Siemens Mobility, Inc.  operations in the United States. You will work closely with other Legal Counsel and Contract Managers to provide legal advice and approvals where required during public procurements and/or contract negotiations as well as throughout project execution. The ability to effectively explain the aforementioned topics to the business partners and drive potential issues to a consensus decision is of the essence when performing the role as Key Account. To succeed in this role, you should have a proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts with public and private customers, suppliers and vendors, and be able to draft claims, and legal analysis. The position may be based in either Sacramento, CA or Pittsburgh, PA.


*Analyze, evaluate and resolve diverse matters with government agencies or commercial customers.
*Investigate, evaluate and resolve project and contract conflicts.
*Conduct legal research and writing; provide ongoing legal support within territory.
*Review and provide legal advice relating to high profile contracts, subcontracts, bids, equipment agreements, sales transactions, project implementation issues, and general corporate matters.
*Support claim management efforts to protect projects and  prepare legal claims.
*Develop risk mitigation and settlement strategies - negotiate and finalize settlement agreements where necessary.
*Develop and provide legal/compliance training to organization and work with corporate executives to ensure adherence to corporate policies.


*JD required and must be admitted/licensed to practice law in one or more states.
*Minimum of 5 years of legal experience in construction/contracts/commercial transactions in a law firm or corporate in-house position required.
* Experience in the transit and or freight railroad markets is highly desirable
*Proven track record in commercial transactions and /or litigation.
*Excellent interpersonal communications skills (written and verbal) required.
*Negotiation abilities a must.
*Proven strong legal writing skills required
*Highly proficient technical skills in MS Office Suite.
*Team player who can also work independently and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
*Willingness to travel (10%).
*Experience with construction / infrastructure projects and government contracts preferred
