Technical Solutions Manager – Power Systems Simulation

Under the supervision of the Global Head of Software Delivery, this position in Siemens Power Technologies International will lead technical solutions management, for the sought after PSS®Suite. The position supports a range of technologies within the power generation, transmission and distribution space including but not limited to network planning projects, distributed energy resources programs and custom solution deployment initiatives. The scope of work includes futuristic technologies in application of renewable energy resources, integrated capacity analysis within the transmission planning & distribution marketplace as well as the state of the art technologies in the Power Systems Simulation arena.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

Solutions Acquisition Support


- Support technical power systems solution for network planning and other transmission and distribution related projects. Tasks will include configuration, testing, deployment as well as technical project management and custom solution support 


- Generate/validate technical proposals for custom solutions built around our PSS®Suite


- Conduct demos onsite at customer location or offsite via Webinars


- Develop accurate project estimates, financial projections, project plans and schedules to execute and manage small to medium-scale projects in- and outside of the Unites States



Solutions Delivery Support


- Manage and optimize project technical requirements, risks, resource usage, scope, and budget throughout the life of the project



- Engage key stakeholders to ensure adherence to the delivery process and highest standards of quality and customer orientation



- Coordinate with the cross-geographic, multi-disciplinary technical engineering and consulting teams and ensure timely technical decisions to meet project deliverables and Customer technical requirements



Product Support


-Test our products as a Power Systems Subject Matter Expert by leveraging hands-on experience using creative testing scenarios and techniques in order to deliver a robust and well tested software suite to our customers


- Acting as an evangelist, lead/mentor the existing Quality Assurance team to enhance our PSS®Suite test approach/methodologies to reflect real world use cases


-Address customer support inquiries for advanced engineering issues by troubleshooting the problem and communicate appropriate solutions to our customers


Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements 


Required Skills


       Electric utility experience required in the arena of network planning



       Previous experience working with electric utilities in the T&D space, or electric regulators



       4 – 6 years of experience in power industry



       Minimum of 2 years of successful technical network planning experience using PSS®E, PSLF, and/or PowerWorld



       Minimum of 3 years experience in technical power systems engineering roles in power generation, transmission or distribution



       Proactive personality, creative decision-making abilities and team player



       Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously



       Strong organizational and multi-tasking ability



       Strong oral and written communication skills on technical and commercial project topics; must be able to demonstrate solid presentation skills



       Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering or equivalent



       Travel required: 35%



Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience





       Scheduling skills and proficiency using enterprise scheduling applications, such as MS Project



       PE certification and/or 1-2 years technical project management experience in the Power System Software arena is a plus



       Advanced degree MAY substitute experience, where applicable
