Position Overview

Siemens is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Hardware Engineering to join our ultrasound imaging team in Issaquah, Washington, USA.  The Senior Manager is responsible for leading the hardware (electrical, mechanical, OEM, COTS) engineering team through definition and integration of next-generation medical ultrasound imaging systems.  The Senior Manager is the main representative of the hardware team on project teams, and is the main interface between hardware engineering and NPI, manufacturing, supply chain, service, and other engineering teams.  The Senior Manager works with the platform and product definition teams on hardware architectures and hardware roadmaps, and works with the change control board to manage defects and enhancement requests.  The Senior Manager is responsible for functional management of small technical team but will mainly focus at the project and system integration level.  The Senior Manager works closely with the Systems Engineers and Hardware Design Engineering teams to ensure designs are robust, integrated, and verified. 



·         Proactive system-level leadership of hardware (electrical, mechanical, OEM, COTS) team focused on product development of next-generation ultrasound imaging systems for general imaging and cardiology markets

·         Work with system and hardware architects to document and review hardware architecture descriptions, hardware sub-system requirements specifications, hardware roadmaps, and hardware configurations 

·         Daily proactive leadership of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, OEM and COTS engineers dedicated to designing and implementing the hardware architecture

·         Daily proactive leadership of integration leads, system engineers, design engineers, and test engineers to integrate and verify the system hardware to requirements and architecture specifications

·         Lead cross-functional teams to debug system-level issues

·         Lead OEM COTS engineers who work with external vendors and partners to specify, integrate, and test OEM, COTS, and custom-designed modules 

·         Work with supply chain and new product introduction (NPI) managers to create hardware bills-of-material, review engineering change orders, and ensure successful release of the hardware system to manufacturing

·         Functional management of small team of hardware engineers and technicians

·         Work with manufacturing to monitor initial production system builds

·         Participate in hardware change control boards, regulatory audits, and product roadmap discussion, and maintain system hardware roadmap

·         Assist and consult with EMC / EMI testing and electrical safety compliance testing for medical devices.

·         Present system- and program-level status to executive management team

·         Represent hardware team in major project reviews


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

·         BSEE with 12+ years of industry experience

·         Experience with medical device development and verification

·         Experience with ultrasound imaging systems and transducers desired

·         Experience with leading product development hardware teams through concept, requirements, design, integration, and verification

·         Experience working with supply chain, manufacturing, and new product introduction (NPI) teams

·         Experience working with global teams, including USA, Korea, China, and Germany

·         Experience working with vendors and external partners on OEM and custom designs

·         Experience authoring specifications, plans and reports

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams

·         Experience with EMC / EMI and electrical safety compliance desired
