Job Description:

Position Overview
Siemens Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software is seeking a Senior UX researcher with a demonstrated background and leadership in UX research. This role requires hands on experience leading UX research activities and a thorough understanding of UX best practices. The candidate should demonstrate expert knowledge of UX design, Information Architecture and UX Strategy as well as proven people and project management skills. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to work within a cross functional team with user-centered design as a focus. You will be working across disciplines, organizational and geographical boundaries and with customers from diverse industries to rapidly develop world-class enterprise software. Your challenge will be to take large, powerful and complex applications and transform them into the simple, intuitive and compelling experience that modern users demand while preserving the applications sophisticated capabilities. You will be working in a fast-paced, agile environment where you will have to keep pace with the rapidly evolving technologies and standards. The ideal candidate is driven by the desire to be a user advocate and is passionate about creating products that are intuitive, satisfying, and easy to learn.
 
Responsibilities
  • Work with a cross functional team using Agile methodology to support the end to end user research needs of the organization.
  • Conduct upfront user research activities (e.g., Personas, Story Mapping, Ethnographic studies, Field studies) and usability studies to support design design making within an agile scrum development setting.
  • Advocate for the user’s needs and collaborate with stakeholders to develop features that align to the needs of the user
  • Support Agile UX design and development exercises within the organization via related UX research, design and testing activities.
  • Turn complex requirements into simple and intuitive interfaces for the end user
  • Analyze and resolve UI design alternatives and issues
  • Prepare UX research documentation (usability reports, survey results, UX research findings, data analysis, etc) to be used by the development team
  • Collect and action UX feedback from customers/end users and manage changes to UX deliverables throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure UX documentation is continuously updated and distributed to the production team
  • Keep up to date in the field by monitoring consumer trends, attending workshops, joining professional groups and reading relevant research
 
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • At least 8 years of Qualitative and Quantitative UX research experience to support the design of web, mobile or software products.
  • Bachelor’s or Masters (preferred) degree in HCI, Human Factors, Computer Science, Applied Psychology or related discipline required
  • Must have a strong portfolio demonstrating past user-centered research experience.
  • Experience with UX research and testing tools including, Morae, eye-tracking, and related industry standard methods.
  • Expertise in Ux research methods including personas, card sorting, field studies, interviews, heuristic evaluations, usability research, statistical methods, design of experiments, etc.
  • Experience rapidly translating research outcomes into concrete designs solutions.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with industry standard UX design software including, Axure, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar UX tools.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, product lines, roles and geographical and time zone boundaries.
  • Proven people and project management skills working with design/UX teams and across larger
  • groups and organizations.
  • Strong influencing skills and evidence of working across organizational boundaries.
