Job Description:

 

Test Engineer  - Large Drives

 


Job Family Specific Responsibilities


Completes complex testing specification, test procedure preparation and follow-up to ensure proper and effective implementation. Performs complex test design, development, and modification in support of customer needs. Performs all levels of testing and data collection including interpretation and evaluation of results. Performs communication of complex technical and commercial issues. Completes recommendations for complex new test designs, new lab processes, or new changes to agency standards to insure requirements and compliance are met.  Work to insure the tests labs understanding and compliance with all agency standards including UL, CSA, IEC, CE, and etc.


Key Responsibilities


Perform testing of electrical function of HW components including Heat Run and Load Test with active & passive load. Perform type test according type test plan.  Perform high voltage testing including EMI/ Insulation / Partial Discharge.  Perform testing of existing functions for every new SW version including Regression & Compatibility, new functions & comparison of the programmed function with the description of the function (feature description).  Create test plan and procedures for all of the previously listed tests for existing and newly developed products.  Work with research engineers to design and develop tests and tests methods to advance product development and all RCA efforts.  Assist lab manager with design and implementation of automated test beds for HW and SW testing, all lab procedures, lab safety, and maintaining interface and knowledge of all VFD related standards.  Work with lab manager and technicians as part of the level III support team providing advanced troubleshooting and expertise in all areas of large VFD


Education

BS/BA in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Knowledge

Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of Electrical and Test Engineering through successful completion of moderately complex assignments. Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures Electrical and Test Engineering, VFD, and motors. Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.


Experience

Typically 1-3 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
