Job Description:

Position Overview:

Siemens has an opening for a Development Engineer located in Richland, MS.  This facility has been in operation for over forty years and employs over 300 people on three product lines (High Voltage Circuit Breakers, Voltage Regulators and Surge arrestors).  This opening is in the HVCB group and will focus on design, development and support of circuit breakers.  An Emphasis will be toward supporting applications and order engineering and implement solutions for the customer.

Responsibilities:
  • Integral role in supporting existing products from creation of customer specific BOM creation through production and customer installation.
  • Perform or oversee installation commissioning, testing and maintenance at customer site.  This may involve programming and testing custom relays and controls.
  • Develop written standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures and reports.
  • Provide training and technical support to customers on site, classroom setting, or by phone.
  • Design, analyze and implement high voltage circuit breakers to meet customer requirements in the US.
  • Design customer requested modification and applications on existing products.
  • Plan, set-up, conduct and document mechanical and electrical development tests.  Maintain all documents related to development testing and design maintenance of the HVCB product line.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to application engineering, manufacturing and order engineering groups.  Conduct internal training on a variety of technical topics.
  • Position will be geared to become a "Technical Expert" within the HVCB group.
  • Travel will be required (20%)

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
  • Understanding/experience with AC / DC electrical circuits, schematics and electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Confidence to solve problems and make decisions in time sensitive situations.
  • Excellent time management skills and organizational ability to deal with multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Travel will be required (20%)

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering in preferred
  • Engineering experience with medium or high voltage circuit breakers, switches or similar products is a plus.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and other Autodesk software
  • Power or utility industry experience, specifically knowledge of protection relay systems and programming.
  • Knowledge of relevant IEEE and IEC standards.
