Job Description:

Position Overview
STAR-CCM+ communicates with external CAD packages (e.g., CATIA, Creo, NX and Inventor) in order to obtain geometry for simulation.  The CAD Clients Team addresses problems related to: 3rd party API interoperability, integration of CAD objects within the STAR-CCM+ model, parametric CAD exploration (maybe:remote process management, network communication). We are looking for someone to design and implement C++ and Java code within our client-server architecture.  The applicant will be expected to both extend functionality and maintain quality and backward compatibility while making changes to existing software.  This position reports to the program manager of the CAD Clients Team in the Interoperability Division of the Platform Department for SimCenter STAR-CCM+ Product Development.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate as part of a large, distributed group of developers.
• Travel when necessary (up to 5%) to collaborate with other teams.
• Participate in design reviews and code reviews.
• Communicate project status during regular meetings.
• Use systems for managingdevelopment including Jira, Confluence, Git, and Stash.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Information Science (or foreign equivalent) and 2 years progressive, post-academic experience in software design and development
OR
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Information Science (or foreign equivalent) and 5 years progressive post baccalaureate experience in Software design and development.
AND
• Programming in the C++ language related to CAD geometry, topology and meta-data
• Issue management using Jira or a comparable system
• True expertise in current C++
• Implementing object-oriented C++ design patterns
• Working on legacy code bases
• Application development with large-scale data-sets and stringent performance and quality requirements
• Using version control systems such as SVN or Git
• Developing a scientific or engineering software application
 
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
• Programming in C++, Java, Python related to process launching and inter-process communications
• Knowledge of one or more CAD extension APIs for supported CAD packages (See above)
• Knowledge of client server and multi-tier architectures and communications protocols
• Knowledge of geometry and topology data structures typical of solid modeler apis such as Parasolid or other modeler
