Job Description:

Position Summary:

As the Mechanical Engineer (Gas Turbine/Rotating) you will design packaging systems to support Siemens complete range of industrial gas turbine products.


• Develop mechanical fluid sub-system designs (e.g. gas/liquid fuel, lube oil, hydraulic, water injection, air systems – inlet filtration, ventilation, exhaust) and structural package/skids (e.g. base plate, sub-skids)
• Deliver engineering drawings such as P&ID (Process and Instrumentation Diagram), General Arrangement Drawings, Assembly Drawings, work instructions or work packs, demolition or construction diagrams, API data sheets, component/equipment datasheets.
• Perform basic engineering calculations (e.g. pressure drop calculation, pump/motor sizing, pressure vessel selection, etc.)
• Extract system requirements based on form, fit, and function that’s currently at customer’s site and define new requirements based on upgrade solutions sold
• Work with designers/drafters on detailed design (eg. pipe assemblies, pipe supports, air duct assemblies)
• Liaise with procurement and suppliers to source systems and necessary components (eg. pump/motor, valves, seal systems)
• Work with Assembly personnel to optimize design for manufacture

Required Knowledge / Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5-8 years of experience in an engineering role within gas turbine industry
  • Demonstrated experience working within a technical team environment 
  • Experience with PLM Design. Stress Analysis and Flow of fluids 
  • Exceptional team player, good communicator and proactive 
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestic and international
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4+ years in Engineering role 
  • Experience with sub-system designs (eg. gas/liquid fuel,hydraulic and lube oil system, starter, water injection, air systems – inlet filtration, ventilation, exhaust) and structural package/skids (eg. base plate, sub-skids) 
  • Previous experience in gas, oil or power generation markets 
  • Gas turbine, rotating equipment and packaging experience 
  • Engineering Procurement and Construction sub system level experience
  • Experience working in a start-up environment 
  • Lean Sigma Green Belt or Robust Design Certification 
  • Risk & Requirements Management
