Job Description:

Position Overview:

We are looking for an Application Specialist in the field of Turbomachinery CFD simulations. You will be part of a team of technical experts within the CCM Product Management organization, which works closely with Product Development, Sales, Customer Support, and Marketing to make Simcenter STAR-CCM+ the leading CFD-focused multiphysics solution for Turbomachinery Applications. In this role, you will be a technical resource and leader for the global Siemens PLM Software company, with responsibilities related to material generation for expediting the sales and support functions, technical guidance for customers, managing internal and external technical relationships, and providing technical input to the development process.

 

Prerequisite and Essential Functions:

• Primary Accountability

o Establish authority as a global technical leader in turbomachinery CFD applications

o Growth in usage of STAR-CCM+ for turbomachinery applications

o Effective and regular technical material generation 

o Build, maintain, and manage technical engagements and collaborations

• Overall responsibility

o As a global technical leader, you are responsible to grow turbomachinery applications usage, primarily in Energy, Aerospace, Automotive and Heavy Equipment industries, by successfully driving technically complex, challenging and strategic engagements

o As a technical expert, you are responsible to create, maintain and distribute technical material, including but not limited to, benchmarks, journal/conference papers, best practice guides, technical/sales presentations, webinars, internal trainings, demonstration cases.

o As a global technical leader, you will collaborate with Industry Managers as they run marketing campaigns, Sales and Support leaders to expedite technical sales, Product Management and Development to enhance software performance and quality

o You will provide advanced technical support to the global sales and support organizations, but also build the expertise of engineers within these organizations, enabling them to support common aerospace applications

o As a subject matter expert, you are expected to know and communicate the market trends and competition to guide both product development and sales. 

 

• Required education and focus

o Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related) with a focus on turbomachinery-related computational fluid dynamics

• Required technical experience (including number of years)

o At least 3 years’ experience with CFD for turbomachinery applications

 

• Required work experience (including number of years)

o Bachelors – 7 yrs, Masters – 5 yrs, PhD – 3 yrs

 

• Required knowledge, skills, or expertise

o In-depth knowledge of turbomachinery-related CFD applications

o A strong background in, but not limited to, gas and steam turbines, compressors, fans, pumps and other rotating machinery, incompressible/compressible flows, turbulence modeling, complex geometry handling and meshing

o Experience with multiphase/multi-physics flows and conjugate heat transfer

o Hands-on experience with commercial blade design and CFD software/s 

o Basic Programming and Shell Scripting Skills

o Basic understanding of Linux and Windows Operating Systems

o Basic business acumen to perform Market Analyses

o Self-motivating, ability to work independently as well as in a team

o Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively

o Good coordination and communications skills

 

• Preferred education and focus (if applicable)

o Preferred Masters or PhD with experience in turbomachinery applications

 

• Preferred past experience (including number of years)

o Preferred at least 5 years’ experience with turbomachinery CFD

• Preferred knowledge, skills, or expertise

o Expert knowledge of STAR-CCM+

o Experience with blade design software

o Expert knowledge of JAVA, Python and C++

o Working business knowledge of the CAE simulation market
