Technical Product Manager – Cybersecurity

Location: Foster City, CA

We are looking for a strong, experienced hands-on product manager to take ownership for the vision, strategy and implementation of best of breed cybersecurity and threat protection posture of our industry leading EnergyIP IoT platform and application suite.

This product management role is responsible for platform and application specific roadmap and requirements for cybersecurity.

We are specifically looking for experienced individuals with a deep understanding of cybersecurity processes, requirements, compliance considerations, along with experience with PKI infrastructure and enterprise identity and access management solutions, and who can articulate a clear platform vision and roadmap, and work alongside platform and application developers, architects and enterprise application product management teams to build the next generation, secure IoT platform for our energy and utility clients.

As a Product Manager, your position will require a strong on outbound activities, such as monitoring industry trends and relevant standards while working directly with customers, sales, presales, professional services, product marketing, and other teams interacting with Siemens customers. You must have effective verbal and written communication. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, product strategy and management experience with customer-facing or employee-facing software applications, and is poised to help position Siemens’s EnergyIP platform and application portfolio with competitive positioning and market differentiation.

The candidate will report to the VP of Product Management.

  • Assess the market and evolving trends to define platform and product positioning for enterprise and IoT security for assets that may be deemed as critical-infrastructure assets

  • Define security solution concepts as well as a security blue print for the product portfolio

  • Define and prioritize product security requirements for inclusion in platform and application and platform roadmaps based on:

    • Regulatory security requirements (e.g. German security law, NERC CIP for US, EU NIS Directive etc.)

    • International security standards (e.g. IEC 27001/27019, IEC 62443, BDEW Whitepaper, NERC CIP)

    • Customer requirements & policies & tenders

    • SIEMENS security guidelines / PSS requirements

    • Security requirements for public, private and hybrid-cloud deployments

    • Requirements for integrating and managing PKI infrastructure responsible for managing symmetric/asymmetric keys and certificates for connected devices and third party participants in deregulated markets

  • Manage cybersecurity requirement backlog and roadmap - manage and maintain a rolling three to five year view of the product roadmap

  • Work in a matrixed manner with platform and application product managers to plan and incorporate cybersecurity requirements in relevant roadmaps and releases

  • Author product specifications, inclusive of use cases, activity flow diagrams, screen mockups, identification of data sources, analytics, reporting, and integration requirements

  • Act as the Product Owner in one or more scrum teams, setting the vision for the team, writing and prioritizing user stories, grooming the backlog, keeping the team focused, and communicating to stakeholders regularly

  • Closely cooperate with R&D teams and support development of cybersecurity requirements during the build phase of each release

  • Draft cybersecurity marketing PoVs, whitepapers  and product documentation

  • Work together with Marketing, Sales, Professional Services, and Support to promote the delivery of cybersecurity features through training initiatives, documentation efforts, and customer / analyst demonstrations

  • Be the product champion externally and passionate voice of the customer internally

  • Engage and lead third party firms in conducting platform and application cybersecurity assessments

  • Develop a partner engagement and integration strategy for topics such as 1. Cyber-security assessment, implementation, testing and certification services 2. PKI infrastructure for on premise and cloud deployments and 3. identity and access management solutions


    Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • 5 – 7 years of experience in cybersecurity implementation for enterprise software and/or connected IoT devices with at least 3- 6 years of product management experience

  • A solid understanding of big data and streaming technologies, IoT and cloud architectures as it pertains to cybersecurity related topics

  • Demonstrated experience and /or knowledge of areas such as identity and access management, security auditing / logging, Active Directory, LDAP integration and PKI infrastructure as well as associated solutions and appliances 

  • Experience in utility processes and systems is highly desirable

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to establish strong relationships with all levels of an organization

  • Highly flexible, ability to execute well in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving organization

  • Experience in writing logical, detailed and complete product requirements and functional specifications

  • Able to develop and effectively communicate a product vision, strategy and roadmap

  • Ability to translate business strategy into tactical plans and willingness to own execution to completion

  • Strong self-starter with entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Comfort with deep technical details as well as high-level business goals and customer needs

  • Knowledge and experience in agile software development process

  • B.S. in Computer Science and/or Engineering, or other related fields
