Senior Automation Product Manager
Location:  Flexible (Tarrytown, NY / Flanders, NJ / Glasgow, DE)
Position Overview
This position is a global Product Management role, reporting to the Sr. Director of Portfolio & Product Management – Automation of Siemens Healthineers. The incumbent will be responsible for:
  • Product Management responsibilities for Aptio and FlexLab Automation Systems
  • Product strategy, innovation, and life cycle management for the Product Systems
  • Product Health management activities for the Product Systems
  • Participating in Automation/IT special projects to drive portfolio strategy, innovation, attain deeper integration of Automation and IT products and analyzers
  • Manage product health and support product, business and process improvements
    • Lead the Product Health Teams (PHTs)
    • Monitor product health and customer satisfaction
    • Report on Key Product Metrics to the Product Lifecycle Management Board (PLM Board) and obtain Board decisions and support needed to operate the business
    • Prioritize and initiate Quality Improvement/Obsolescence/Productivity and other business necessary projects as part of managing and improving the Product Systems
    • Provide product and process support to the Countries for deal bidding and execution
    • Participate in SPPs, PQCs, FCAs
    • Plan and execute product end-of-life programs
  • Define product roadmaps and innovation needs
    • Maintain awareness of market trends, customer needs, and competitors’ portfolios and products and draw conclusions for Product Systems development needs
    • Participate in long-term Automation/IT product roadmap definition
    • Prioritize product development and product health investments
    • Interface with strategic planning
  • Define products and support new product development
    • Participate on PDP core teams/ECO project teams
    • Write business plans for new products
    • Support PDP financial model creation and analysis
    • Plan and execute customer-centric product definition
    • Write Design Input Requirements (DIR)
    • Define product pricing strategy and set list pricing
    • Leading/organizing the cross functional activities to improve global product forecast and supply chain processes
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal/external partners
    • Build strong working relationship with IT and Analyzer counterparts
    • Build strong working relationship with primary Automation partner
    • Build strong working relationship with Global and Regional/Country Marketing and Business Management counterparts
    • Participate in selecting Automation/IT/Instrument system projects
    • Lead cross-functional teams/initiatives
Direction of Others:
  • Directs the activities of two automation layout specialists
  • Leads cross-functional teams. Develops team members through mentoring and coaching in complex subjects
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience  
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience
  • 10% travel requirement
  • Knowledge of the clinical laboratory industry – customer/business experience a plus
  • Understanding of clinical laboratory workflow and the role of automation and IT in improving lab workflow or other workflow driven industry
  • Preferably detailed knowledge in at least one of the following business functions: Product Management, Marketing, Healthcare Consulting, R&D, Service and/or Program Management
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams
  • Experience with ‘systems’ business model (versus ‘product’ business model)
