Job Description:

Position Overview

Work with a diverse international team to produce NC programming, determine necessary tooling, and establish part set-up in machines to manufacture and repair large power generation equipment predominantly for 3-, 4-, & 5-axis horizontal milling machines. Optimize tooling and machining processes to meet performance requirements. Use experience and ingenuity to determine complex manufacturing processes on high cost, long lead time components. Develop, improve, and document processes for machining large power generation equipment. Work with machinists in resolving complex manufacturing opportunities on high precision power generation components.  Ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in all aspects of the job.




  • Complete the development and implementation of complex machining processes including NC programming, tooling, and part set-up.

  • Participate and lead in manufacturing process improvement projects to reduce duration and cost of machining processes to high precision power generation components.

  • Support and lead strategic projects to bring new manufacturing capabilities into facility through new equipment or modernization of existing equipment.

  • Determine the most economic manufacturing processes, operation sequence, and tooling for the machining of high precision power generation parts.

  • Support shop machinist to successfully execute manufacturing processes and complex machining activities


 Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Associates Degree in a related field required
  • 8-10 years experience with using NX or MasterCam and Vericut in Milling applications

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a machine shop environment

  • Knowledge of tooling selection and use (Feed, Speeds, HP)

  • Work closely with shop floor personnel to troubleshoot issues (tooling, program, machine) as they arise

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Experience in implementing and/or improving manufacturing processes, information, facilities, and production planning in a shop environment

  • Working knowledge and experience within complex manufacturing operations and demonstrated competence in a production environment leading diverse teams

  • Ability to interact with teams to obtain consensus in developing processes and standardizing manufacturing information flow.

  • Ability to work with close tolerance machining on large projects.

  • Develop annual business project plans to ensure synchronization with the department budget and the ROI plan of work centers

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills 

  • Travel up to 5%

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Manufacturing time study and manufacturing flow analysis skills and value stream mapping
  • Background in various CNC Machine Controls and Programming (Siemens 840D, 840C)
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis 
  • Facility and Maintenance interfaces and experienced in the aspects of Preventative Maintenance
