We are working on next generation smart workflow, reading and reporting solutions used in molecular imaging (PET/CT, SPECT/CT, PET/MR). We are currently seeking a Research Scientist to join our pre-development team in Knoxville, TN.
The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer or scientist with excellent background in biomedical engineering, medical physics or computer science. In this role, you will develop prototypes that implement innovative approaches to efficiently extract clinically actionable and relevant information using modern approaches including artificial intelligence. You will drive the evaluation of prototypes with global collaboration sites advocate for your innovations throughout the organization.
This position will provide our candidate with an excellent opportunity for visibility and impact, as you will be reporting directly to the Director of Clinical Applications in the Research and Clinical Collaborations department in our molecular imaging business line.
- Identify unmet clinical application needs in molecular imaging and impact the technology/innovation roadmap for clinical applications research
- Design and implement image processing methods and algorithms for molecular imaging
- Perform validation of methods and algorithms
- Support transfer of innovations and technology to engineering implementation with the relevant teams (product management, project management, analysts, testers, developers), including producing technical reports describing the method, as well as designing and creating test data and providing performance evaluation records
- Support clinical collaborations by enabling validation efforts
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Ideal candidates should have a M.S. or Ph.D. in computer science / biomedical engineering / medical physics or related field and a proven record in research, innovative thinking, real world problem solving, and prototyping. A minimum of 3 years’ experience is preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in defining and creating research or product solutions in at least one medical imaging modality. Candidates should have demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams and in international virtual teams, or be able to speak to how they would adapt to working with diverse teams in multiple geographies. International and domestic travel (10%) is required (customers and conferences).
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Prior experience in medical product development and quality systems is preferred. Prior experience in more than one medical imaging modality is preferred.
