The senior power system engineer is a lead position to do requirement analysis, design and development of the application software for Energy Market Management Application. We are particularly looking for areas related to Market Participation bidding strategies. The candidate must have direct experience in design and software development of the bidding and risk mitigation strategies  
Develop, implement, and perform complex technical assignments related to Electricity Energy Markets Management System (EMM) software applications. Analyze, design, program, troubleshoot, recommend solutions, perform enhancements, provide technical support, and implement modifications associated with the EMM System applications. Design, develop and implement application software for electricity markets using applicable theory, algorithms and solution techniques. Develop functional requirements, design specifications, documentation and testing of Energy Market Applications. Energy Market Applications development and delivery involves: Unit Commitment, Generation Dispatch and Control and Power System Network Applications

The position requires effective use and modification to the solution techniques in Power System Operation for Unit Commitment, Generation Dispatch & Control and Transmission Constraints modeling and knowledge of Optimization Techniques.

The software environment where the implementation is performed involves Windows/Unix/Linux OS, Languages of C/C++/Fortran, Oracle PL/SQL, and Perl scripting, Provide day-to-day technical support and leadership of the operational market system applications.

Perform problem resolution including performing root cause analysis and interacting with customer and application engineers.


 Master’s degree in Electrical (Power) Engineering or a related field and 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position or a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical (Power) Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience

In addition, prior experience can include demonstrated engagement in the industry/university projects or thesis in the areas of Power System Analysis involving Operations, Generation, Transmission and/or Electricity Energy Market Applications problem formulation in software development. Education and experience focused in the topics of software modeling techniques and analysis in the area of Power System Operations (Generation, Transmission and Distribution Network) will also be considered.
The following experience is highly desirable  
  1. Software application development experience in high level language preferably C/C++, SQL, Perl and Python

  2. 4 + years of Experience in either or a combination of the following functional areas:

  3. Experience in modeling and solving Energy Market Clearing optimization Problems

  4. Experience in Unit Commitment, Automatic Generation Control, Economic Dispatch

  5. Experience in Network Application such as Power Flow Analysis, Security Analysis, State Estimator etc

  6. Experience in modeling and solving  Financial Transmission Rights (FTR), Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR) or bidding strategies

  7. Experience in doing market analysis and study using Monte Carlo Simulation and any other established simulation techniques

  8. Experience in modeling and solving Hydro-Thermal, Hydro Generation optimization problems
