We are advertising for a Buyer (Material Logistics Specialist 2) to join our New Projects Purchasing and Planning teams.

 

The Flanders facility has significantly grown in the last 3 years and continues to expand as we introduce new instruments to our manufacturing portfolio.  We are currently in the process of developing the next phase of a high technology medical analytical instrument. This brings exciting career opportunities within our projects and supply-chain teams.

 

Our latest development is currently in the prototype and design phases.  We expect this product to move through to preproduction and eventually volume production in approximately 2 years.  To help us achieve this goal we are looking for a strong Buyer to join our projects team to support the acquisition of materials for the various build programs.  The role will require interaction with design engineering teams, project teams and suppliers.  This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an influential team involved with a new product from its concept. You will help shape the materials supply-chain, manage your own portfolio of suppliers and be a key architect in the systems. You will drive supplier relationships needed for rapid prototype, soft tooled items and eventually volume manufacture.

 

Initially, you will be tactically helping the project team secure materials in time for prototype and preproduction phases. A keen focus on supplier performance, adherence to schedules and technical/quality requirements will be an essential part of the function. This will require excellent communications with the core project teams and a close working relationships with suppliers.

 

In the latter phases you will be instrumental in ensuring that your suppliers are ready to meet the volume manufacturing requirements.  This includes meeting quality, technical and delivery performance requirements. You will also be a key driver for system accuracy and delivery mechanisms that will enable the product to transition from preproduction to volume production.

 

The individual will be able to develop their suppliers, work with strategic procurement and logistics teams to ensure we are aligned and are managing the incoming materials efficiently.  The individual will also take the lead for their suppliers and drive and peer organizations such as Supplier Quality Management and Inventory Management to develop a world class supply base and materials chain in to the organization.

 

Successful applicants will have:

- 3 to 5 years plus experience in a purchasing, materials or supplier management areas.

- Professional procurement or materials certification is preferred

- Degree level or equivalent qualifications

- An understanding of electro mechanical and or fluidic systems

- Experience of complex hardware manufacturing in low to mid volume environments

- Ability to manage the efficient supply of specialist and custom design components

- A team player who can work constructively with peer departments and functions#LI-BH1
