Senior Electronics Hardware Architect for Rail Automation R&D team in the domain of embedded systems for rail signaling and onboard equipment. The role of the Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer will include responsibilities regarding design and development for new and enhancements of existing products. You will possess a solid understanding of electrical engineering and digital and analog design practices, along with background knowledge in signal processing and/or network communications, have experience with implementation of signal processing and/or communications and be capable of translating functional requirements into efficient working designs.
You should have strong written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to work independently, yet collaboratively, in multidisciplinary team environment. You will also utilize your technical expertise to provide imaginative, thorough, practicable, and organizationally aligned solutions to an array of difficult developmental and sustaining challenges. You must be comfortable with the application of technical theories and concepts in developmental environments and have some level of general knowledge of other related disciplines such as system engineering, and analog circuit design.

This Role will include the following responsibilities:
Guides complex maintenance, enhancement, testing and support of existing hardware.
Develops complex design, development, testing, and modification of hardware.
Guides the quality process by the rigorous and detailed execution of module, sub-system and system test procedures.
Guides designing, developing, and implementing hardware solutions while adhering to manufacturing capabilities.
Guides completion of engineering documentation to support a design effort.
Develops estimates for task duration, supporting the process for developing and maintaining schedules, cost and quality.
Develops complex technical writings.
Develops documentation and training manuals in the use of new or modified equipment.
Guides review of specifications to determine hardware engineering requirements.
Independently performs advanced areas of work for the professional field.
Applies advanced skills to resolve problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently.
Displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems.
Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of electronics design to the successful completion of complex assignments.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
Qualified applicants will have 10+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of designing complex mixed-signal hardware featuring wiring harnesses down to FPGAs, Processors, Microcontrollers, ADCs/DACs, (POL) DC/DC converters, etc.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Advanced Degree preferred, Masters, PhD, or MBA. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience.
Understanding of design principles (FMEA Analysis, Reliability Analysis).
Knowledge of FCC guidelines for emissions and susceptibility.
Proven ability to define and perform component level integration and test plans
Proven ability to resolve integration and test issues in hands-on lab environments
Experience providing reliable cost/schedule estimates for developmental activities
Background in digital signal processing and/or network processing applications
Familiarity with high-level code generation tool flows (Matlab, Simulink, C/C++)
Familiarity with circuit card design, implementation, integration, and test and validation
- Rail product design experience
Experience with Safety critical/vital systems
- Knowledge of RF
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments
