Position Overview

The objective of this position is to manage two areas of the Quality group for Onshore North America:

  • The Quality Inspectors that work on new construction wind farms to perform quality inspections at key milestones in the project

  • The Quality Performance organization that controls the regional IMS (Integrated Management System) Processes and Procedures, the regional KPIs including Non-Conformance Cost Tracking, and the regional ISO Audit Program. The responsibility also includes managing the 8D (corrective action and preventative action problem solving) process and the continuous improvement program for the region.


This role will be responsible for managing and reporting KPIs to measure quality performance of a project and will serve the internal customer, Project Management, throughout the implementation of a new unit Wind Farm in the Americas Region.



The Project Quality Manager is responsible for managing the Quality Inspectors that work on new unit Wind Farms and the Quality Performance team members that work in the back office. The responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage the KPI reporting process for Onshore North America. This includes setting and aligning regional KPIs with the corporate KPIs, monitoring status of the KPIs and reporting out results to the organization, and driving improvement initiatives to improve the results of the KPIs. One big focus area for the quality KPIs is reporting on NCCs (Non-conformance costs) and claim recoveries. Coordination with the Projects organization and Procurement organization Is needed for this.

  • Manage the 8D program for the region and ensure the right people are trained in the 8D methodology. Ensure 8Ds are being completed in a timely manner. Ensure 8Ds are properly documented in the right system(s).

  • Manage the overall ISO audit program for the region and align the audit plan each year with the corporate plan. Ensure the region is ready for both internal and external audits. Set the audit plan for the year, coordinating with factories and all regional locations.

  • Manage the region-specific process and procedure documentation and coordinate with corporate on any region input to global procedures, as applicable. Ensure procedures for the region are kept up to date.

  • Drive quality improvement on products and services by trending snags and NCCs across projects and initiating improvement projects.

  • Manage the Wind Q-inspect tool by ensuring a team member can provide expert support to the quality inspectors on this tool and that the right quality inspection checklists get added to the tool for each project.

  • Manage the available quality inspection checklists and make sure we have the latest ones for each project/product, including developing additional quality checks if needed by the region.

  • Manage the quality inspector assignments, training, and tasks. Ensure inspectors are staffed properly on project sites and that we maximize productivity of full time inspectors.

  • Ensure inspectors perform any torque checks required by platform on each project and that the results are properly reported.

  • Ensure Quality Inspectors document and follow up on relevant non-conformances.

  • Ensure all quality inspection points on site are completed and documented in snag lists in Q-inspect and that all snags get closed out at the proper stage of the project.

  • Coordinate all quality inspection requirements and procedures with Corporate to align across Onshore.


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Strong communication skills and change management skills required

  • 6-8 years’ experience required in Energy Industry (Renewables preferred) with at least 2 years in management.

  • Technical knowledge of Wind Power products is preferred

  • Knowledge of 8D methodology preferred

  • Experience managing metrics and KPIs for a business is preferred

  • Audit and process management skills / experience is preferred
