Position Overview:


Siemens Process Industries & Drives is seeking a Buyer/Planner to support the Process Automation division in Houston, TX.


The Buyer/Planner will work closely with cross-functional team members to ensure timely delivery of products/services for the assigned products/projects.  Ideal candidate will be fluent in SAP and will initiate purchase orders, ensure prompt receipt and ensure allocation of material to production.

  • Purchase material/service in SAP to support ongoing operations
  • Align material/service deliveries with production schedule that supports our customer's needs
  • Initiate purchase orders, ensure prompt receipt, ensure allocation of material to production
  • Run weekly open order reports and get updated schedule from suppliers
  • Perform data analysis in excel and support management reporting of KPIs
  • Assists in getting correct information from suppliers such as price and lead time in order to maintain correct information in SAP material master
  • Resolve GR/IR issues with suppliers
  • Negotiation with both internal and external suppliers
  • Support supplier corrective action processes
  • Daily use of excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, formulas, charts, etc…)
  • Review and target supplier delivery improvements & late order resolution
  • Track the vendor's progress against the original and/or revised schedule
  • Maintain organization and prioritize schedules 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to improve cost, quality and delivery performance
  • Knowledge of incoterms and its impact on cost
  • Works in conjunction with Strategic procurement, supplier quality and Logistics for improving total cost of ownership of products/services
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects/activities
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree
  • 0-3 years of experience

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Skilled in SAP and Excel
  • Experience working/negotiating with suppliers
  • APICS/ISM certification
