The Hardware and Mechanical Engineering group in Siemens Healthineers Ultrasound is responsible for developing electrical and mechanical components for use in the design, test, and production of Siemens Ultrasound products. These components are developed in a rigorous engineering environment under medical device regulations. The team also works closely with the Reliability Test Team and Supply Chain Management to ensure that designs are quality, reliable, and manufacturable.
Siemens Healthcare's Ultrasound business is seeking a highly motivated intern to help the Mechanical Engineering group design mechanical components for reliability testing.
The intern will work in a dynamic environment as part of the group. This will involve learning and applying the fundamentals of mechanical engineering and reliability testing.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/ classes/ research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.
Education required: Rising junior or senior attending a University or College
Academic majors: Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Test Engineering
Minimum GPA: 3.2
Technical skills: Must have experience in basic mechanical engineering theory and design tools such as SolidWorks or ProE. Familiarity with statistical methods and tools such as MiniTab a plus. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Familiarity with hands-on mechanical and testing a plus.
Ability to work independently with moderate supervision, work well in a team environment, strong technical writing skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and critical thinking abilities a must
Learn basic ultrasound technology and industry mechanical design, learn basics of reliability testing, apply fundamentals of mechanical engineering to the design of mechanical components relating to the ultrasound system and reliability testing test tools, analyze test/engineering data and identify improvement areas, participate in defining new mechanical requirements and designs, learn about working in a regulated industry and learn from experienced engineers.
