As a member of the Operational Accounting team, the position requires a driven leader with flexibility and a think outside of the box mentality. This position reports directly to the Head of Accounting NAM, on a team that provides accounting support for the North America (NAM) region. As an Operational Accounting Manager, this person will be responsible for leading transactional accounting processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting as we continue to merge and implement SAP 4/Hana.
Manages day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, A/R, and cash accounting and month-end close of such functions. Generates / manages generation of accurate and timely monthly / quarterly financial reports.
Manages service level agreement for outsourced transactional accounting functions.
Identifies process improvement potentials in accounting processes and proposes remedial measures or projects.
Establishes local operating policies and procedures to ensure attainment of organizational objectives.
Mentors/develops personnel, coordinates and provides training to new and existing staff.
Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees and ensures employees do the same within the team. Encourages open dialogue between team members.
Drives and ensures cross-training of team members to support successful daily operations.
Ensures adherence with accounting standards (SFRG / IFRS) and internal guidelines. Provides advice in use and interpretation of accounting data.
Ensures strong internal controls are in place, performed and reviewed timely for changes in the control environment.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
8+ years of relevant accounting experience including demonstrated leadership skills
CPA license required
SAP or large scale ERP system experience
Strong understanding and application of IFRS
Track record of identifying opportunities for process improvement, risk or cost reduction and developing/implementing creative solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong conflict resolution skills
Ability to present ideas, expectations and information in a concise well organized manner
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload to meet assigned deadlines in fast- paced environment
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and third parties to maximize performance by improving current processes or implementing new processes as deemed necessary
Ability to train / coach others
Prior experience interfacing with internal and external auditors
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Prior experience with a large ERP Implementation
Combined experience in public accounting and private industry a plus
Strong systems knowledge including ESPRIT and SAP
