Position Overview

Repair Center Technician level-2

Faulted components are inspected, repaired and tested to ensure that the repaired components are as good as, if not better than the new components by identifying the failure mode and eliminating the root cause of failure by replacing the faulted component with a robust one.

This is a great opportunity for learning on the job and honing the technical knowledge, skills and experience



1. ABB & Phoenix part testing with available equipment. Additional part testing when Tech 1 not available

2. ABB inverter, LCL Filter, IGBT testing, SACE breaker, crowbar renovations/maintenance in house

3. Part repairs of circuit boards, replacement of diodes and fuses, minimal assistance from Technical office only as required

4. Extensive work in SAP tracking flow of material and progress of repair referencing consumptions, individual sites, and serialization of components and historical tracking of serialized components from previous failures

5. Provide feedback through reports showing failure trend analysis

6. Provide reports showing trend analysis by sites by root cause to identify training needs

7. New part orders to maintain in house repair capabilities, this work would be with the procurement team support and management

8. Root Cause/Failure mode characterization

9. Repack components as required after final testing, final step of refurbishment to generate a like new component using anti-static bags and gloves to protect component

10. Generator & Gearbox maintenance, spinning bearings in storage to prevent damage

11. Identify parts as repairable vs. non-repairable and receive in by site in SAP, independent scrap authorization (SAP and Physical) is necessary for components that can be repaired but are not repairable - when Tech 1 not available

12. Prepare material for refurbishment to 3rd parties and Europe after testing and direct communication with individual vendors noting site specific repairs - when Tech 1 not available

13. Providing tracking information for all shipments either to vendors/Gamesa Spain/US WF on every shipment - when applicable

14. Higher level scrap decisions as required that come up with communications through vendor regarding components that have been shipped to vendor but cannot be refurbished. Work with repair vendors and suppliers on normal basis - when Tech 1 not available

15. The ability to work independently to prioritize repairs and testing of components based upon repair time/testing time and the warehouse/wind farm needs based upon consumptions and current inventory levels around the country.

16. Using electrical theory knowledge to recognize components that have passed through testing and require additional manual repairs as described above

17. Foster extensive vendor relationships for regular and frequent repairs as well as extended relationship in the future. Proper professional communication required - when Tech1 not available

18. Travel to wind farms, vendors and training facilities as necessary 10-15% of the time as and when needed

19. Other duties as assigned by management

20. Comply with Environmental, Health and Safety requirements of the company.


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent work
  • Vocational/Technical school/Diploma program


Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience


  • Associates degree preferred
  • 2-4 years work experience in repairs of electrical/electronics component preferred
  • Additional work experience maybe considered in-lieu of education
