Job Description:


Siemens Smart Infrastructures (SI) is looking for an Application Engineer for their Norcross, Georgia location.  The Application Engineer will specialize in pre-sale technical and configuration support, focusing on residential product portfolio consisting of miniature circuit breakers, metering, load centers and power mods for the Low Voltage & Products Business Unit of Smart Infrastructure.

The primary focus will be on providing technical application assistance directly to business development, sales, technical support, the distribution channel, and end customers with the intent of providing the best technical and economic solutions to the market with the end goal of growing Siemens market share. Guides/organizes cross functional activities related to training, documentation, tools, sales, marketing, service, logistics/manufacturing. Helps identify technical marketing requirements for the development of new products or enhancing existing products or product lines. Helps support the development of business plans and product introduction plans on a regional basis.

The candidate must have knowledge of general business functions, including product marketing, engineering, manufacturing, finance, and global business issues. Must possess demonstrated ability to establish cooperation across multiple work groups for a common cause, communicate effectively, and create detailed & documented business plans in support of product development activities. 

SI Low Voltage Products functions to drive value into market; the candidate must have demonstrated ability to drive cooperation and integration with PLM groups to ensure product roadmaps are aligned with overall market needs and future growth opportunities. The capability to rationalize, integrate, and market multiple products with multiple platforms across business segments is key.

Candidate will be expected to have experience with circuit breakers, metering, serial communications, and power distribution apparatus. The candidate must be familiar with product Standards, technological trends, market requirements, and customer requirements in the NAFTA markets.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Education:

1. Bachelor’s Degree – Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred, although a combination of education (HS Diploma or GED equivalency is a minimum requirement) and directly related work experience will also be considered

2. Electrical knowledge; technical understanding/aptitude for low, medium or high voltage products.

3. Understanding of UL Standards is preferred.

4. Technical Support experience is preferred

5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

6. Knowledge of the electrical distribution sales channel.

7. Knowledgeable with Microsoft Access or Excel

8. SAP Knowledge

9. Must be available to travel within North America and internationally, 25% travel is required.


Job Family Responsibilities

Performs the design of complex hardware and software application solutions.  Completes tracking of complex orders to ensure that equipment, cost and delivery objectives are met by responding to customers promptly. Completes records of complex specification costs and price estimates. Tracks and maintains assets (I.e. equipment, tools, software, etc.). Completes recommendations for alternatives or changes to complex customer specifications and/or processes to better match Company products to customer needs and to improve productivity. Performs investigations and analyzes of complex field problems. Completes explanations and clarifies information to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of complex specifications, performance characteristics or other technical data.
