This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Senior Associate, you will be responsible for:

  • Either as part of a research team or as an individual operator, take on strategic questions and drive towards informed answers through a mix of secondary and primary research including strategic design research as well as market and competitive analysis.

  • Help capture potential futures for the line of business and test them appropriately with end users and buyers to learn about hypotheses before we invest in them

  • Synthesize lessons from research activities through storytelling and presentations meant to provoke thought and target creative energy to areas with a rich future

  • Act as a facilitator and service designer in co-creation efforts, working with colleagues, collaborators, and entrepreneurs-in-residence to craft strategy (and capture thinking in appropriate strategic frameworks and artifacts.)

  • You are naturally curious and have developed an evolved skillset to satisfy that curiosity, including a diverse set of generative design research methodologies

  • You are an excellent learner and are interested in developing expertise to translate between the worlds of design, strategy, finance, operations, and technology

  • You have above average communication skills including storytelling and visual communications

  • You are constantly annoyed by badly designed systems, services, and interactions

  • You are imaginative, creative, and find yourself living in the near future (but can report back to the present so everyone else can help build towards that future)

  • You are willing and able to influence and persuade others to join you in solving problems you’ve helped identify

Required skills to have for the success of this role

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required in social sciences (e.g. anthropology, sociology, psychology), design with a strong course in research, or business with strong courses in innovation and strategy

  • 5+ years’ experience in formulating strategy including primary research, analysis/synthesis, and facilitation

  • Willing to travel up to 40% at times
