Job Summary

The Transformer Resource Manager is responsible for managing field personnel and assets for Siemens Transformer Service group. A qualified candidate in this position will provide excellent customer service while managing safety, quality, schedule, and budget. The Transformer Resource Manager carries out all duties required for the successful planning and execution of transformer service projects. Directly responsible for the development of field personnel and maintenance of all field service equipment.

Reports directly to Transformer Operations Manager.  Effective communication and collaboration with Project Managers (PMs), Business Development Managers (BDMs), and QTC Manager is required

May require some travel and non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions

Duties / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reviews and fully understands the project’s agreement/contract, specifications, clarification and exceptions, scope of work, budgets, and allowances prior to commencement.

  • Support the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract

  • Monitor project progress, cost of labor, material, and productivity for project control and provide regular updates to team, management, and PMO

  • Manage transformer D&T and warranty projects as needed from inception through completion, and be financially responsible to overall project performance

  • Provide project revenue and profit forecasts as part of regular project status updates

  • Review time sheets and expenses and ensure all coding is correct for project costing.

  • Provide information and/or support to accounting to complete timely and accurate billings.

  • Provide timely and completed documentation of work performed and ensure test data is submitted

  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals

  • Resolve customer issues to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Attends pre-construction meetings as required with all involved parties and agencies.

  • Monitor goals in support of departmental and corporate strategies, services requests, reporting analysis, staffing, overall performance.

  • Identify customers with non-Siemens install base and check for the available retrofit options

  • Drive innovation, growth, quality and best practice processes to meet Siemens standards as well as customer and competitive needs

  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.

  • Drive safety culture for Service Center employees consistent with existing Siemens safe working procedures/practices.

  • Analyze service productivity and recommend changes to improve customer service and profitability.

  • Develop and maintain ongoing maintenance schedules for vehicles, processing equipment, dry air systems, generators, and test equipment

  • Ensure personnel are properly equipped to perform each project

  • Ensure personnel are performing necessary preventive maintenance on all issued equipment

  • Management of all tooling and accurate inventory of each Siemens asset

  • Manage the upkeep of all equipment & assets

  • 2-year technical degree in related discipline or at least 12 years in transformer service field

  • 10+ years of experience in technical assembly, maintenance and repair of power and distribution transformers / transformer accessories in utility/energy electrical industry

  • Expert level skill in one or more of: Distribution, Power and Transmission electrical substation equipment in power ranges of Low Voltage (4160V – 13kV), Medium Voltage (13kV – 69kV) or High Voltage (69kV – 800 kV

  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in a professional manner on all aspects of transformer service activities, verbal or written, whilst understanding the importance of protecting the company's propriety information and intellectual property rights.

  • Must possess excellent written communication skills and be capable of writing job directives, work instructions and protocols.

  • Possess comprehensive skills to interpret the scope of work, assembly, general arrangement drawings, electrical prints and one-line diagrams, as well as test data and factory instruction manuals Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients, vendors and colleagues.

  • Demonstrated success in managing people, building strong business relationships and success in achieving results along with solid financial acumen

  • High level of organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and projects with little direction and supervision.

  • Effective business judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Knowledge and ability to work with computers, SAP, and Microsoft Office Systems

  • Competent in the use of MS Office and Windows based software, as well as online tools.

  • US Citizenship required

  • Possession of or ability to attain a US Passport for international travel

  • Possession of or ability to attain a DOD Security Clearance

  • Must be available to travel approximately 30%
