 Engineering Services – Application Engineer II/CFD Engineer


Position Overview:


The successful candidate will join the Engineering Consulting team at Irvine, CA office and will carry out Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for a variety of application in automotive and other industries such as aerospace, energy, biomedical, etc. The engineer will be accountable for meeting deadlines and maintaining the quality standards at Siemens PLM. This position will have a direct report to the Engineering Services manager in AMS CFD1 group and will also have technical report to Project Leads – from other offices – during the life of each project.




The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:


  • Perform CFD simulations using STAR-CCM+ software. This will include preparing the CAD geometry for creating the CFD model, creating 3D nesh, troubleshooting the run, and post processing the data
  • Consistent and clear communication with the Project Lead engineer for each project
  • Perform the quality control tasks for each project with the Project Lead
  • Maintain timely and accurate information of the project timeline in Siemens PLM management software (OpenAir)
  • Prepare technical reports for each project, during and upon completion
  • Project archiving

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:


The successful candidate will have the following requirements:


  • Bachelor in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with course work in Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics
  • Fundamental understanding of CFD
  • Proven working experience with STAR-CCM+
  • Experience with Linux
  • Excellent technical communication skills and report preparation
  • Excellent problem solving self-training skills 

Qualified Applicants must be U.S. Person and able to obtain required clearance for any Export Controlled projects. Qualified Applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.


Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:


The followings are preferred

  • Masters in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Knowledge of creating CAD models
  • Java programming
