Job Description:

Position Overview

As a Bid Manager for Siemens Mobility you will lead a cross functional team of engineers, strategic procurement, sales, production, quality control, and executive management to successfully compile, create and submit bid documents for the North American rail market.  In this position you will manage the Siemens bid process through appropriate approval levels whether that be locally in the United States or globally. Presentations for bid preparation kick off meetings, executive management approval, and customer submission are regular activities in this position. The Bid Manager utilizes the Project Management@Siemens tools to track and execute all aspects of the proposal process. 

The Bid Manager will report to the Director of Customer Success.

 
Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Deliver high quality proposals to both external and internal customers 
  • Understand and explain both technical and financial aspects of each proposal to Senior Management staff
  • Review, edit and create proposals for several concurrent customers
  • Lead multi-functional teams in the areas of specification review, product selection, and financial strategy
  • Adherence with Company, State, and Federal policies & requirements

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

 
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Project Management, Bid/Proposal Management experience
  • Demonstrated success leading and working with teams of professionals
  • 3-5 years of experience in similar roles
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (English) are necessary for success in this position
  • Travel up to 10% is required
  • Strong organizational and time management methods
  • Ability and enthusiasm to learn new products and strategies
  • Competent with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint)

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

 
  • PMP certification 
  • Experience with proposing to, or interacting with Government agencies
  • Proven history of managing bids with large values
  • Knowledge of industrial processes and manufacturing
