This position is responsible for providing leadership for the ultrasound engineering (UE) group in the Ultrasound Business of Siemens Healthineers. The scope of the group includes specification and verification for new ultrasound product introductions, developments of ultrasound imaging algorithms and features, image optimization of key imaging modes. The team supports premium cardiac products. This position requires a combination of strong technical skills in ultrasound imaging, beamformation, and image processing, technical team management skills and clear understanding of clinical use of cardiac ultrasound.
Manage a group of ultrasound engineers. The technical and leadership responsibilities include:
Guide and direct all ultrasound engineering management activities and ensure on-time and quality execution in compliance with related medical device regulations/standards (FDA, IEC, etc.), and internal quality management and design control processes.
Specify and verify imaging system architecture for new ultrasound product introductions, including front end acquisition and scan sequence, beamforming, signal processing, and image processing.
Develop and continuously improve ultrasound imaging and diagnostic features, including B-mode, color flow, spectral Doppler, contrast imaging, real-time 3D imaging, ICE, etc., with a focus on cardiac applications.
Drive the continuous improvement of the development processes and tools
Work with transduce design groups and clinical team, to specify and verify ultrasound transducers, optimize image quality, support clinical evaluation, and respond to customer feedbacks.
Manage the recruitment, training, team culture, and employee career development of the UE Group.
Work with advanced development groups and other cross-functional groups, innovate breakthrough ultrasound technologies to provide better image quality and diagnosis tools for customers.
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related fields; Ph. D preferred
Minimum 10 years in medical imaging product development (including significant experience in imaging algorithms and ultrasound image optimization) and at least 5 years in a project leader/manager position.
Demonstrated leadership abilities; ability to coordinate development efforts of a highly technical group
Knowledge of regulations for medical devices
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Able to adapt quickly to change and work in a rapidly-evolving environment
