Provide diverse engineering support in the electrical motors industry in the selection, qualification, and monitoring of new suppliers and processes. Perform Price/Cost analysis, Concurrent engineering, Value Engineering, Value Analysis, Target Costing and analysis of Total Cost of Ownership. Liaison between Procurement, Operational Purchasing, supplier base, Quality Management, Production, Design Engineering, Product Development and Manufacturing. Support Commodity Management to establish and attain cost reduction targets as well as for contract negotiations with suppliers. Interface with legal department. Study and analyze engineering drawings.
Localization and Global Value Sourcing of current and new components
Serve on cross functional teams led by commodity management for market analysis, supplier selection, qualification, development and evaluation as well as act as a liaison between partnering functions, customers and suppliers to assure that specifications, acceptance and testing criteria are clearly identified, documented and agreed to by all parties.
Conduct periodic supplier audits in collaboration with Quality Management
Lead qualifications of new components through First Article
Inspection (FAI) process in collaboration with Quality Management
Lead price negotiations with suppliers utilizing various strategies such as DTC/VE/VA, Price/Cost analysis, etc.
Maintain/Update Vendor List (AVL) in collaboration with Quality Management
Continually search for standardization opportunities
Proactively work with suppliers on Continuous Improvement Projects
Create and report monthly supplier quality reports that show Pareto of supplier performances, create development plans for suppliers that include root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D FMEA, SPC, Control Plan, Poka-Yoke. etc.) in collaboration with Quality Management
Driving claim management process & assist in non-conformance costs recovery
Collaborate closely with other quality personnel, procurement, Purchasing, engineering, production and planners in a team environment
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Requires a B.S. degree with a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in the Electrical Motors Industry as a quality or technical engineer in a manufacturing environment (engineering degree required)
Effective negotiation skills and contract knowledge for implementing Quality Assurance Agreements, Specifications, Technical Delivery Conditions, etc.
Knowledge of ISO 9001
Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
This position requires the person be a highly organize, self-motivated, and driven individual who can work independently
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, top management, suppliers, and customers.
Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and techniques as applied to manufacturing functions.
Must be flexible to travel as needed (25%)
Experience in risk management and mitigation
Knowledge of Total-Cost-of-Ownership (ToCo)
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Knowledge of VDA 6.3, process auditing
Six Sigma – Green belt, Lean experience
Working experience with SAP & MS Office
Experience in fast-paced manufacturing business
Intercultural and/or International work experience
