Job Description:

Under minimal to no supervision, the Quality Technician III will be responsible for examining materials for quality and defects, as well as data analysis and reporting as required.

      

In this role, you will be responsible for all Quality projects and initiatives, which include the understanding and execution of quality departmental processes utilizing engineering drawings, supplier data sheets, purchase order requirements, written inspection plans and verbal instructions.  You will conduct initial root cause analysis of in-process defects with focus on preventative measures and utilize network files and company applications.    

 

Responsibilities also include one or more of the following:

   
  • Quality Inspection Focus
    • Coordinate repairs and/or questions regarding discrepancies with the appropriate department
    • Perform incoming inspections/first articles on general material and perform outgoing material inspections and drive inspections
    • Certification in external quality standards (i.e. IPC standards)
    • Participate in internal process review and audits
    • Complete record of inspection results, acceptance, rejection and disposition.  Enter basis data into log books or computer databases
  • Material Review Board Focus
    • Analyze and trend monthly QIR/NCMR data
    • Skilled in Root Cause Analysis
    • Maintain and control the MRB (Material Review Board) rejection process; the timely disposition of material through the MRB process
    • Maintain the segregation and organization of the MRB material holding areas
    • Engage with Purchasing to resolve issues and coordinate the Return for Credit of rejected material as well as off the shelf items
    • Monitor SAP MRB material stock
  • Supplier Quality Focus
    • Management of assigned commodities
    • Manage creation and updates to inspection plan criteria
    • Flag material for incoming inspection and review inspection data with supplier quality engineer to define ongoing actions
    • Evaluate and disposition nonconforming material
    • Create and manage rework work orders, internally and externally
    • Interface with Purchasing on supplier component disposition issues
    • Identify quality nonconformance, submit supplier nonconformance forms for rejected material and make appropriate requests for internal and supplier corrective action
  • Utilize measurement tools as required
  • Organize and set priority of work including scheduling inspection tasks for others
  • Certified to train on relevant internal or external process/standards and act as a mentor to fellow associates.
  • Collaboration with various internal departments in resolution of quality issues
  • Technical understanding of product and processes
  • Own and manage specific Quality processes and responsibility for data analysis and reporting.
  • Housekeeping and 5S activities which includes organizing work area for orderliness at all times and ensuring work area is accessible and safe for internal employees and customer traffic
  • Knowledge of all duties will be cross functional but specific duties may be assigned
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
 


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Intermediate computer skills required
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Basic math, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of SAP
 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

 
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience preferred
  • Knowledge on how to read drawings and any applicable industry standards
