Job Description:

Position Overview

 

Optimizes supplier base through market research, supplier selection, qualification, development, evaluation and performance management through execution of formal supplier development plans for specific commodities. Develops and implements commodity and supplier strategies for local suppliers as well as for pooling with global suppliers in collaboration with Global Commodity Managers to meet cost reduction targets. Negotiates price through price/cost analysis, complex T’s & C’s and master purchase agreements for direct material. Monitors contractual obligations for compliance. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve commodity and supplier strategies for material cost reduction targets

  • Execute market research, supplier selection, qualification, development and management

  • Initiate global sourcing activities to optimize cost and supply base performance

  • Lead cross-functional supplier selection teams, including participating in QA audit team qualifications

  • Negotiate price through price/cost analysis, T’s & C’s and master purchase agreements for favorable procurement conditions in cooperation with company legal department

  • Ensure smooth transfer of sourcing strategies, including contract terms to operational purchasing

  • Leads cross-functional teams for the annual supplier evaluation process and executes formal supplier development plans

  • Perform supplier risk assessments on periodic basis

  • Lead “make/buy” analysis through cross-functional team to present to management

  • Commodity and supplier PVO analysis

  • Other duties as required

 

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience 

  • Experience in supplier selection, qualification,  development and management
  • Commercial Negotiation Skills
  • Ability to analyze material cost breakdowns and assess their accuracy based on market values
  • Total Cost of Ownership calculation
  • Project management experience
  • Complex problem resolution and analytical thinking skills
  • Collaboration with partnering functions and/or cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Proficient in MS Office and SAP
  • Global mindset & networking skills
  • Independent, but team-oriented work style
  • Strategically oriented and proactive
  • 8-10 years or more of successful purchasing/procurement experience
  • Ability to travel up to 25%


Education


BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience 


Direction of Others:

Provides general guidance or matrix leadership of professional staff.
