Job Description:

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Project Buyer - SAP Materials Management & Purchasing to integrate Purchasing/Logistics tasks in the project teams during the entire project duration. This individual will organize, control and monitor all Purchasing activities in a project(s) and introduce purchasing strategies targeting maximum contribution to the operating result. This position will work with our project management, engineering, Strategic procurement and production teams to support various projects.



  • Responsible for planning, execution and communication of project purchasing plan for End to End purchasing/supply chain processes

  • Support end to end supply chain from ordering phase to product delivery and warranty returns

  • Fully responsible for the execution and delivery of Projects material & Services. Ensures that all material and services meet project delivery requirements

  • Identifies and guides supply base risk, opportunities and market forces to avoid potential damage / exploit potential opportunities; solves project specific challenges

  • Performs purchasing/SCM activities in alignment with Strategic procurement, Supplier quality management and project management prioritization and requirement

  • Defines, tracks and reports on scheduling, risk, change, opportunities and resource management

  • Ensures that the project scope and terms are addressed in the Purchase orders

  • Supports contractual and price negotiations in collaboration with Strategic Procurement to improve EBIT

  • Track the vendor's progress against the original and/or revised schedule

  • Responsible for collecting/analyzing data and applying problem solving techniques (5 why, PDCS, Pareto etc..) to support process improvement

  • Responsible for effectively communicating with cross-functional team members on project status and SCM tasks

  • Responsible for inventory analysis & management to improve inventory turns

  • Develop and maintain relationship with suppliers to improve cost, quality and delivery performance

  • Take ownership of the supplier account and execute process improvement to create value for Siemens and end customer

  • Review and target supplier delivery improvements & late order resolution

  • Works in conjunction with Strategic procurement, supplier quality and Logistics for improving total cost of ownership of products/services

  • Assists Strategic procurement team in executing Commodity strategies at tactical level

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • 3-4+ years relevant work experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or relevant area of expertise

  • Strong SAP knowledge MM/PS module to support Purchase 2 Pay process, MRP runs, Inventory Management, Expedite reporting, Purchasing/Inventory analysis for process improvements

  • Well organized to support changing priorities and project schedules

  • Excellent skill with Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, formulas, charts, etc…)

  • Experience with Lean methodology in identifying and reducing or completely eliminating waste from process

  • Knowledge of incoterms and its impact on cost and risk to the project

  • Excellent negotiation skills with both internal and external suppliers to drive project performance

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • BS/BA in Supply chain, engineering or relevant area of expertise

  • Professional certification (APICS, ISM, PMI etc..)
