J2 Innovations is a leading company in the field of building automation and IoT. Our goal is to enhance the way humans interact with the connected world. In May 2018, J2 Innovations was acquired by Siemens, vindicating our conviction that our products will revolutionize how monitoring, control and visualization systems for building automation and IoT will be built and used. We operate independently and focus on enabling OEMs of building related industries to be successful; such companies generally manufacture products in the HVAC, lighting, shading, fire, security and many other building and IoT markets.

Based in California, the company has its first European office in Bucharest, Romania. We also have European presence in the UK and Italy.

We specifically look for a Vice President of Software for J2 Innovations who can balance the corporate and start-up world as well as the world of building automation and controls with the world of modern software architectures. Main Responsibilities:

  • End-2-End responsibility for innovating the FIN Framework from Edge to Cloud, jointly with our visionary CEO

  • Lead a team of architects and software developers in Los Angeles and Worldwide

  • Grow and shape the team further through new hires and people development

  • Govern the architectural evolution of FIN Framework

  • Set the frame for further standardizing software development methodology regarding coding, testing and releasing

  • Further evolve state-of-the-art software processes based on agile methodology

  • Support the product management in prioritization, resource allocation and planning

  • As a member of the leadership team, contribute to achieving the aggressive growth targets of the company while maintaining a culture of openness and a high level of collaboration


  • 7-10+ years of experience in managing mid- to large-sized high-end software teams in dynamic and growing market environments

  • Relevant experience in architectural design, coding and testing in common languages such as Java, JavaScript and HTML5 to better understand your teams and communicate on eye-level; initial job experience as full stack developer is a plus

  • Strong understanding of agile software methodology

  • Experienced in supporting product management teams to prioritize their planning

  • Experience with modern cloud architectures, in particular based on AWS, is a plus

  • Experience with software running on IoT devices is a plus

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate complex topics in simple ways

  • Inspiring and modern leadership skills linked with high degree of natural authority

  • BA/BSc or MSc in Computer Science or comparable practical experience
