The Automation Hardware Consultant facilitates the execution of project solutions for complex automation hardware installations. Supports the project specialist’s role for complex projects by attending customer meetings, performing pre-site inspections, supports customer with site readiness requirements, advises customer contractors, performs hardware installation and final testing of systems protocol. Acts as a functional and/or business resource for automation projects. Facilitates execution of continuous improvement to ensure quality of installation is maintained and cycle time targets are met. Recommend changes in methods or procedures in area of responsibility. Plays an active role in maintaining customer relationships throughout the cycle of the project. The Automation Hardware Consultant will troubleshoot and resolve complex issues during the project. Demonstrates leadership and expertise which is required to train, develop, and mentor the local CSE on automation system technology. Evaluate CSE training classes and provide input to curriculum and lesson plans. Work’s cross-functionally with the Service Management team (RSM), TAM, and TAO to drive on-site automation hardware installation timeliness and quality. Additionally, provide escalation support by phone and on site as schedule permits.
Minimum two year technical degree or equivalent work experience in electronics and mechanics. Familiarity in the use of AutoCAD is highly desirable. 75 % travel to perform the job.
Must operate with minimal day to day supervised oversight because they are located in areas that are remote to their manager. They must demonstrate a high level of competency in decision making and be willing to take reasonable risk to get the job done. Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation, instructional and communication skills (oral, written) for success in this position. Must also possess an excellent team and customer service orientation, problem solving, time management and computer proficiency skills. Current valid driver’s license and excellent driving record required. Must be willing to work any shift.
