Your new role – challenging and future-oriented

Software Defined Radio (SDR) permits the implementation of many wireless standards using mostly software. Simple software updates may add support for new wireless standards into existing radio systems without any modification of the underlying hardware.The main objective is to use virtualization technologies to design and implement a software distribution framework (“app store”) for SDR with focus on industrial communications. This work should provide different communication protocols as software packages ("apps"). Ideally these apps are highly portable and allow easy migration between different computing platforms.

  • The first task of your internship is a State of the Art analysis of software virtualization and distribution management concepts in the context of SDR and Communication as a Service (CaaS)

  • You will propose an own conceptual design and implement your solution

  • You will test and demonstrate your implementation, including documentation

  • During your internship you will collaborate with our team and contribute to ongoing research and development

Your qualifications – solid and appropriate

  • You are a student of Informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar and you are required to complete a mandatory internship under university study regulations

  • First experience in virtualization / containers and software architecture is required

  • You have sufficient experience with the Linux operating system, experience in Linux / Windows driver development is not mandatory, but of advantage

  • Very good written and oral English skills are required, German skills would be an advantage
