What are the responsibilities?
Siemens has Zero Tolerance on EHS and it is the requirements of the Project Team to implement all measures to
avoid any incidents.
The EHS Engineer/Manager as a major stakeholder of the project teams is to support the project teams via
the Project Manager and Site Manager in regard to project EHS planning, execution, monitoring, rectification and
reporting of project related EHS issues with process requirements in line with local legislative, HQ-process and
As an EHS Engineer you are to ensure compliance to all applicable EHS regulations and add value by using
EHS KPIs to improve processes. Further you have to identify, monitor and analyze environmental, health and safety
issues as an on-going process with recurring improvement.
What experience do I need to qualify for this job?
You must be able to support the project management team, site management team and operational activities in
regard to the arrangements for EHS Management in Projects and within respective construction site environments.
Together with the project manager you will be leading the implementation and adherence to EHS and site obligations
to meet the national EHS legislative and Project / Site Management requirements.
EHS Management Reporting and Communication:
Ensure that the project and construction site arrangements include the requirements for project and site related
reporting, contributing to the requirements of the overall EHS project and business KPI's.
Audits and Assessments:
Carry out project and site related inspections as part of the overall audit and inspection programs. Identify corrective
and preventative actions as required and support the closure of any actions with project and site teams, as required.
Qualification for EHS Management:
In possession of related certificates (NEBOSH & OSHA) you support the implementation of a competency
management and training processes and provide advice on the project and construction site requirements as part of
overall training programs. Support and advise, where required, on the high expectations on EHS qualification in
respect to construction site requirements.
Support the project and site management teams in regard to customer requirements, customer communications and on site EHS issues.
Legal EHS Requirements:
Clarify Legal EHS Requirements to the project.
Ensure that the EHS Processes are carried out as described in Process House. Ensure that milestone plans are
always available and updated.
Ensure that Emergency Arrangements are established at all locations in your area and that they are known and
understood by employees and sub-contractors.
Ensure that Risk Assessments are carried out, updated, documented and reviewed in their respective areas,
assisting in the process as appropriate. Ensure that the subject matter of the risk assessments is communicated (by
safety induction trainings) and known to all employees concerned.
All Accidents, Near Misses and Unsafe Conditions within their area of responsibility are recorded in accordance with
the Company accident and reporting procedures and all corrective actions are identified.
What else do I need to know?
- Minimum of 8 years work in EHS/HSE roles.
- NEBOSH or equivalent certifications
- Experience at managing multiple sites and locations.
- Experience on Civil/Electrical projects essential. (substation projects would be ideal)
- Excellent knowledge of the English language
- Used to working in a multicultural environment.
