Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a talented Design Engineer to work at our Oxfordshire site.  This is a superb opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join one of our magnet engineering teams. You will join a multi-disciplinary group in our Engineering Department and will work to maintain our “state of the art” competence in magnet design, technology and manufacturing processes.

Siemens MR Magnet Technology is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of superconducting magnets for magnetic resonance imaging – over a third of MRI scanners installed worldwide have at their heart a magnet manufactured in our Eynsham factory.  The business has been awarded several Queen’s Awards for export success, two Best Factory Awards and an IMechE Manufacturing Excellence Award, and is justifiably proud of its engineering and manufacturing heritage.

What are my responsibilities?

Development and deployment of technology: Contribution to technology and process development projects to ensure competitive advantage.

Production technical support: Evaluation of manufacturing technical issues to enable reliable product performance to be achieved.

Collaborative programmes: Contribute to programmes with external commercial and academic institutions.

Innovation: Work with colleagues to generate and evaluate innovative design solutions to ensure competitive product performance and intellectual property portfolio.

Technical Standards: Work to ensure compliance with internal and external technical standards.

Benchmarking: Evaluate competitor technologies and intellectual property to ensure competitive performance.

New product Introduction: Contribute to product detail design and realisation.

Recruitment and development: Monitoring of (for example) student placements.

Technical representation of company: Support company technical reputation with academic and commercial organisations.

What do I need to qualify for the role?

HNC / HND equivalent or higher in a relevant Engineering, Science or Technology subject.

Experience in an engineering position

Experience in a Continuous Improvement product/manufacturing environment

Engineering or science based project experience
