Graduate Software Development Engineer
Development of software controlling our latest generation of Mobile Communications products.
Responsible for technically understanding our customer requirements and then ensuring that a solution is designed and implemented in a methodical manner under the supervision of engineering personnel whilst utilising industry best practices.
The main purpose of this role is to develop software for customer projects. Candidates will be working on new developments for train communications products using modern design techniques and software languages. The role will include involvement in the design and responsibility for implementing key features.
We are beginning development of our 4G/5G platform of Mobile Communication Gateway products now, so this is a great time to join the development team early in the development cycle of a new exciting product.
The role is primarily based in the Poole office, however we can offer the opportunity for international travel in the test and support of the products if the candidate wishes.

Our graduate development programme lasts for two years. During this time, your development is intended to provide a thorough grounding in your discipline, develop personal and management skills and foster an understanding of the business as a whole.
Minimum Educational Requirements
A relevant software degree. Candidates should have obtained or be expecting to obtain at least a 2:2.
‘Hands on’ technical experience gained during industrial placements / degree projects.
Exposure to any of the following would be beneficial:
UML / C++
Linux and/or Windows
Software Design, preferably using an object oriented methodology.
Software Design using an agile design approach
Internet of Things
You will require, as a minimum, a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office elements including Word, Excel, Outlook.
Good Communication Skills and the ability to present ideas and results back to the team and Management
Customer relationship building skills
No previous experience needed.
Training & Development
We will work with you to develop a development plan to meet your technical and personal needs. You will also take part in the Siemens Graduate Development Programme.
