For nearly 170 years, pioneering technologies and the business models developed from them have been the foundation of Siemens’ success. Our central research and development unit – Corporate Technology (CT) – plays an important role in this effort. The CT units around the world boast a global network of experts, creating and retaining a technological edge for Siemens. CT in China is an integral part of this family.
CT-China is a strategic partner to Siemens’ operative units. It provides important services along the entire value chain – from research and development to production and quality assurance, as well as optimized business processes. The support provided to the businesses in their research and development activities is ideally balanced with future-oriented research.
The Research Group for Software Engineering (SEN) belongs to the Research in Digitalization and Automation (RDA) organization in CT-China. We focus on the research, engineering, and consultancy of software engineering methodologies, systems, and processes. It is evident that the complex software-intensive systems are at the core of Siemens’s business, e.g. Siemens trains, power plants, factory automation, building automation, power grid control, and medical devices.
The SEN program of Intelligent Code Clinics (iCodeClinic) aims to automate and improve software engineering, including its various components, using AI technologies. For instance, automatic code quality evaluation, architecture consistency check, automated configuration management, and many other topics to be defined, are the focus of this program. By providing the iCodeClinic service, we will work closely with Siemens BUs to improve their software development process both in the component and system levels.
We therefore propose this opening of research scientist position to those who share the same enthusiasm and mindset—to improve software engineering with AI.
What are my responsibilities?
Conduct pioneering research in AI-based software engineering, and eventually build up as the technical voice for iCodeClinic. In order to do this:
•Continuously develop, maintain, and update advanced expertise in the AI frontier as well as software engineering;
•Discover pain points and user scenarios in software development that can be potentially addressed by AI-technologies, and accordingly, define topics for iCodeClinic;
•Design AI problem formation for each of the topics, including the definition of the input and output data to the deep learning framework, training and test strategies, methods of validation, etc.;
•Continuously extract and build up databases of training and testing data for AI software engineering;
•Design and implement deep learning algorithms;
•Provide technical leadership in the area of iCodeClinic both internally and externally, define consulting services in this area;
•Document, present, and promote iCodeClinic to leadership and customers;
•Acquire and lead projects;
•Enthusiastic about research and engineering;
